Saving Sadie: How a Dog That No One Wanted Inspired the World

This is an incredible story of love, hope, and joy. From Sadie’s tragic beginning to her courageous adoption, and loving care and devotion by so many people, you will enjoy seeing how rewarding and satisfying such an undertaking can be. Ultimately, it is not just Sadie who is being rehabilitated and showered with love, it is also the multitude of people who joined in in this magnificent rescue. How lovely it is to read something so richly satisfying in a world so set and besieged with problems, war, greed, crime, and intolerances. If only the whole world could be so loving, and gracious! You will enjoy this story and wish there were more people like these in the world.

Excellent read , we have a reduce dog and it takes a great deal of love and understanding to gain there attention and respect.

This is a must read for anyone who loves dogs..As is said the the book, your dog learns from you and you certainly learn so much from them. There's a message to "Never stop trying or believing "

Terrific story

From the very beginning of this book I was in love with Sadie! I've got two dogs, one a rescue and I love him with all my heart. I know nothing of his background but I don't think he was given much attention which breaks my heart. I call him my Velcro dog because he has to be right against me at all times, and he didn't play with my other dog until just recently and I've had him 1 1/2 years and he was estimated as being 7 when I adopted him, so I can understand Joal wanting to chase the demons who hurt Sadie before she found him, but their love for each other is so inspiring!

What a remarkable team! I enjoyed this book very much. Some things are not for me, but I love animals so much and I know about the love and devotion for both human and animal!

Saving Sadie is such a heart-stealing story...first sadness, then resolve, hardworking and results, thanks to Sadie's amazing mom/rescuer Joel! One may wonder about all the effort, time and money spent to save this sweet pup, but unless you can love a dog you may not understand. Sadie, thanks to a wonderful woman and amazing cast of characters becomes the best she can be- despite 2gushot wounds. Wonderful, heartfelt story!

I have always loved and owned dogs. Right now, I have 2 chihuahuas. My last dog before these 2 was Queeny, a chiweenee/jack russell mix, who was brain damaged. Her mother had been a stray, found on a golf course. 3 vets said her cerebral cortex was damaged. She was walleyed, ran in circles instead of straight lines, because of being walleyed, but she was the most loving dog we'd ever had. Sadie's story resonates with me because Queeny had her own set of challenges. I cried several times reading about Sadie, both sad and happy tears. God bless Joal and Sadie. If you want to read a triumph over adversity story, THIS IS IT!

First of all, the hyperbole in the subtitle "Inspired the World" was ridiculous. Sadie inspired people who came across her but I, for one, had never heard of her. Secondly I felt that the book was not so much about Sadie the dog, but about Joal the author. I felt so sorry for Sadie for all that the owner put her through- 8 hours of treatment, at least, every single day! No wonder she refused to do anymore occasionally! The author is the kind of woman who is taken in by charlatans of all sorts - psychics who claimed to be able to read the dog's mind and tell her what the dog wanted were the worst - and I just could not believe how gullible she was. No wonder her daughters were concerned! Not my favourite dog book, and I'm annoyed at myself for buying it, just because I love reading about dogs!

This book could easily be retitled "Saving Joal Derse Dauer" as by saving a dog the author's life is completely turned around and for the better. This is a well written book and I would recommend it to readers of all ages particularly if you are a dog lover as I am.

Amazing story about an amazing dog and the wonderful lady who cared and got her back to health.

Great read about a wonderful human being giving out love.

Sadie was obviously a beautiful animal and it was grand that she was rescued and restored to a happy life with an owner who loved her. A basically interesting story, that was obviously written with the best of intent but I found the anthropomorphism of Sadie tedious and, to be totally honest, undignified for Sadie. However, there were many good aspects to the story … the main one being how truly cruel some humans can be to our innocent, loving and loyal four-footed friends for no known reason other than that they're in power over them, and just can - hideously evil and, to my mind, criminal. On the flip side, how truly forgiving those same four-footed friends can be, totally ready to love and trust unconditionally again, regardless of cost to themselves … if only we humans could be more like them!
