Gems from the Equinox: Instructions by Aleister Crowley for His Own Magical Order

Poor binding. Cheaply printed.
This is not a review of the books contents (which is at times fantastic - in all senses of the word). But I bought this to replace an old musty edition I bought 2nd hand years ago.I suspect the old edition will outlive this edition, which feels more like a paperback by comparison.Since buying have seen this same version for sale in Glastonbury and the binding had broke away from the cover and was thus reduced. Apparently it was new stock, but had broken on their shelf.I am therefore concerned about using this edition - it hardly looks fit for purpose. The older edition had cloth in its binding, the cover was embossed and the paper of good quality. This is not.

This is just a nice handy volume to carry around and dip into occasionally
Having lost the original edition by Llewelyn (1974), I was anxious to replace it and chose this edition instead of the other one. The book arrived on time and met my expectations. Being a fan of Crowley's work, I purchased the republication of Samuel Weisers' 'The Equinox' volumes back in the 1990s, so I already have most of his writings. This is just a nice handy volume to carry around and dip into occasionally. And for the price, it is well worth purchasing.

This puts most of the key texts of crowleys teachings including holy texts (except three that are available in one volume) in on
Absolute must have for 'hard core' fans. This puts most of the key texts of crowleys teachings including holy texts (except three that are available in one volume) in one very good tome. Fantastic

Quality of this book is second to none.
Wow! Staggeringly, beautiful book. A real stunner. Can't say much about it's contents as I bought it as an Xmas gift. Think they were pleased though.

Gems from the Equinox - A Review by Barry Van-Asten
This is an excellent compendium of the major works found in Crowley's great masterpiece of occult knowledge - The Equinox, a periodical which declared the Law of the New Aeon of Thelema. Gems from the Equinox is divided into seven sections on themes such as: The Book of the Law, Yoga, Magick, and Sex Magick etc and there is something for all students and scholars of Magick and Crowley's works in this concise collection. Israel Regardie has done a fine job on this volume of illumination, yet how can it ever compare to that superior star which is the Equinox? There are some omissions which I feel should have been included, such as: The Temple of Solomon the King, John St John, Across the Gulf, The Rites of Eleusis, The Herb Dangerous, and The Soldier! and the Hunchback?... - yes, these are available elsewhere and space is always a factor, yet to have them all in one volume would be a wonder indeed! But we must forgive Mr Regardie for reducing the greatest periodical ever written in the English language concerning magical instruction, into a mere work of art and beauty in one extraordinary volume, of which, I'm sure Crowley would have approved (despite the omissions)!
