One very good reason for choosing this one
You need to be careful with reviews of products like this. I reviewed a smoke alarm which lots of people had given 5 stars without testing in smoke. When I tested it in smoke the alarm didn't go off.Carbon monoxide alarms are even harder to test. They mostly do nothing until you are in danger of dying from poisoning and until that happens you have no way of knowing if they actually work. This one has an important difference. It gives a digital reading of the carbon monoxide level. I put a burning candle in a bottle and deprived it of air until it started giving off carbon monoxide. The device immediately registered the concentration. I can't create enough carbon monoxide in this way to reach danger levels so when I did the same test on another brand nothing happened and I had no way of telling whether it worked.I am therefore totally confident that alarm works and if you buy it you can easily check for yourself.I was given this product free for review. I write reviews, not advertisements. There are many instances where I have pointed out important problems with products that have been highly rated.

Sensible Option That Will Help Keep You Safe
HEIMAN Independent Carbon Monoxide Detector Co Alarm 3V Battery Operated LCD Display HM-723ESY.This is a sensible product to have for safety purposes if you have a gas fire/heater or a gas boiler in one of your rooms. The Heiman Carbon Monoxide Detector is a good quality safety alarm that will help protect you from dangerous levels of invisible carbon monoxide gas.It is battery powered and comes supplied with the 2 x AA required. The alarm can be set off and tested and then hushed from the front panel. The sound is ear-piercing and a visual red alarm light will flash. I tested this against my car exhaust from a cold start and it set the alarm off reading a higher than acceptable level of carbon monoxide. The LCD Screen displays real-time concentration, alarm peak value, sensor malfunction and ultra-lower voltage indicator. It should be installed on a wall or ceiling where it seems possible gas may accumulate. In summary, if you have a gas heater in a room you use then it would be sensible to have a carbon monoxide detector and this would do nicely to help keep you safe.I was kindly sent a free or discounted sample of this product by the supplier in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Responsive Carbon Monoxide Detector which is simple to install and operate.
The media could not be loaded. This Heiman Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector provides an early warning of elevated levels of CO and could potentially save your life and other members of your family if harmful levels of CO should ever occur !CO is an invisible, odourless and tasteless gas, which is extremely toxic to humans. It's produced by any fuel-burning appliance, which if properly installed and maintained, is designed to burn fuel efficiently and hence produce only small amounts of CO. Any CO that is produced is either vented from the room to the outside by a flue or chimney or made inert by a catalytic converter built into the appliance, or the CO gas is left to disperse naturally. If a condition occurs such as a blocked flue, which affects the combustion process, this could lead to elevated levels of CO being produced. This is particularly hazardous if the CO is allowed to build-up within confined (living) areas within a property. This Carbon Monoxide detector is battery-powered and monitors instantaneous levels of CO it detects, so it's a useful sentinel for your home or any location susceptible to the build-up of CO gas. The continuous monitoring feature, together with pre-set alarm levels, gives you piece-of-mind from the hidden dangers of CO. Although this detector doesn't carry a British Standards Institute (BSI) 'Kite' mark certification, it's been calibrated to BSI standard EN52091: 2010 and is also CE marked. Alarm thresholds for this detector are as follows in Parts Per Million (PPM) of CO gas:30 PPM within 120 minutes50 PPM within 60 to 90 minutes100 PPM within 10 to 40 minutes300 PPM within 3 minutesEN52091 also specifies an instantaneous alarm condition of 400 PPM and above.A blue-backlit LCD, built into the front of the unit, provides information relating to a test or alarm event. Under normal operation, the LCD Screen and back light are turned off to preserve power. A 'TEST/HUSH' button is mounted above the LCD which serves to initiate a manual self-test condition by pressing it - this should be done on a weekly basis ! A series of beeps is sounded and a red Alarm LED flashes. If the detector is triggered by an elevated level of CO, the alarm sounds and the red LED also flashes. It can be silenced by pressing the TEST/HUSH button. If the level of CO remains high, the alarm will sound again within 10 minutes. During normal operation of the CO detector, a green LED, mounted above the test button, will flash every 30 seconds to confirm the device is operating normally. Following an alarm condition, the TEST/HUSH button can be pressed to display the peak CO level which was detected during the alarm event. A yellow LED indicates a fault with the detector or the detector has reached the end of it's service live and should be replaced. After fitting the two 'AA' batteries supplied and performing the self-test, the detector is ready to be installed on a wall. It should be placed within 0.3 to 1m from ground level due to CO being lighter than air. Ideally a number of these detectors should be placed around your property (one in each room which has an appliance capable of producing CO gas). If in doubt consult a qualified Gas Safe Engineer for advice. The unit is supplied with a plastic mounting base which can be fixed to the wall using the plastic fixing plugs and screws provided. This allows the CO unit to be fitted and removed from the base by locating the two tabs and turning it clockwise or counter-clockwise respectively.Summing up: This is a responsive Carbon Monoxide detector which is simple to install and operate. CO gas isn't something which is readily available to allow testing of the unit, so for piece of mind, I always test this type of detector by holding it close to the exhaust pipe of a car (with an internal combustion engine) which hasn't been started for a few hours. The CO gas produced is quite high whilst the car's catalytic converter is cold so CO is produced in high concentration. This produced a peak-level reading of 908 PPM and caused an instantaneous alarm condition verifying the detector would actually operate if CO was being produced in a high concentration by a faulty appliance.Disclosure: Complimentary product provided for evaluation and unbiased review.

Excellent must have product
I’ve had a few of these over the years and never think I have enough of them, I think every home, caravan should have one. This is a great one, what I do like is its 3 Volt and uses 2 x AA batteries (which are included), saves money on buying the more expensive 9 volt ones that they normally require. Can be attached to the wall or ceiling. The alarm sounds when Carbon Monoxide is Detected and its loud, very load, ear piercingly loud.Has a test feature so you can check battery and that is working okay.A must have device that works greatI was offered this at a discounted price for an honest review, this has had no baring on how I like the product
