Private Pilot Oral Exam Guide: Comprehensive preparation for the FAA checkride (Oral Exam Guide Series)

Although i ended up returning this book a couple days after receiving it, i still think this book is worthy of 5 stars if you’re a fixed wing pilot preparing for your oral exam. It includes direct questions, and straight to the point answers with references, and the scenario based questions were a plus!! With that said, if you’re a helicopter pilot, like myself, there’s still valuable information but very little is specific to rotorcraft. I ordered this book as a supplement to the ASA Helicopter Pilot Oral Exam Guide (3rd Edition, published in 2024). The third edition is a complete all-in-one study tool specific to helicopter pilots and no longer requires the use of this corresponding Private Pilot Oral Exam Guide. That’s the only reason i returned this book. So if you’re a fixed wing pilot, GET THIS BOOK to study for your oral exam…if you’re a helicopter pilot, get the 3rd edition helicopter pilot oral exam guide, it’s the one with the purple cover 😉

I highly recommend this book. Using this in conjunction with “mock orals” on Youtube should allow you to have no surprises on your actual check ride. I recently purchased the instrument one as well.

This book was a life saver. There is so much information for your PPL and this covers everything and then some. I passed my private check ride with ease using this!

This oral exam seems to be fitted more towards fixed wing pilots. It does have some questions for overall piloting but not geared towards rotorcraft

I passed my check ride with ease and confidence. In large part thanks to this book. Don't schedule your check ride until you've run through this book confidently.
