Good Twisting and Turning Plots.
Being a fan of period drama I found the Medici series very much to my liking.Set in 15th century Florence amid the warring factions of the various city republics, the Medici family have risen from merchants to bankers, and now aim to be bankers to the Pope and in so doing hope to become influential not just in Italy but on the world stage.Dustin Hoffman plays the dogmatic and ruthless Giovanni, father of Cosimo and Lorenzo played here byRichard Madden and Stuart Martin respectively, all of whom are magnificent in their roles. As to be expected in a series that portrays secretive historical figures, the writers and director take quitea bit of artistic licence with the plot and there are flashbacks to earlier times that might prove confusingto some viewers but it all fits together to make addictive viewing. There is violence, some sexual scenes, but nothing too graphic. The music seems to fit in well with theperiod. It all seemed to be over too quickly for me so I hope that series two comes out on DVD in the not toodistant future.Released in 2017 on 2 discs.Over 430 minutes viewingSpecial Features,Subtitles in English.

Enjoyable Viewing
We loved this Series watched all three seasons... Still found Season one the most Authentic. Strange listening to Sheffield Accents in Florence Italy in the 15th Century referring to Sean Bean aka Richard Sharpe But did very much enjoy all of the Seasons good acting and plots all around. A Shame 'Medici' Wont return for a Season four

MEDICI....SEASON ONE DVD
A slow burner which grew on me as the episodes progressed. There are a lot of wonderful shows about the medieval legends (Borgias etc), and this is, for me, almost one of the best. Beautifully filmed on location with a good script and talented actors, who, mostly, are unknown to me (there is excellent dubbing of the foreign actors and the voice actors get a credit at the end). So it hurts ne to say that the English actors and Hoffman are what prevents me giving 5 stars. Richard Madden plays Cosimo on one note and is frankly,..dull. Hoffman contributes nothing as the father. He is just miscast and I know he is a wonderful actor, just not here. Annabel Scholey does her best but the script for her character gives her little chance to shine. As episode 2 progressed I thought everything began to improve and by the end I was hooked. Good quality transfer, sound and subtitles. Well worth a go if you like historical drama. Accurate? Who knows? Don't care much!

Medicis
Dustin Hoffman doesn't get much of a part in this, so don't get your hopes up. However, the handsome Richard Madden certainly makes up for it. The story is set in Florence in the Renaissance period. There are a lot of plots and counter plots going on which doesn't make life at all easy for the Medicis, as well as a few murders. The costumes and sets are great as well as the acting. Well worth viewing.

I Medici -stagione 1
