Early Street Gangs and Gangsters of New York City: 1800-1919. Illustrated Paperback – 27 September 2011

I bought this book, along with 'The New York Mafia: The Origins of the New York Mob' by Patrick F. Sullivan, in February 2013. Both were published by Create Space Independent Publishing Platform. 'Early Street Gangs' has 281 pages, and I could only make it up to page 42. The reason? No, not gore or violence, but awful, awful editing and proofreading. They should be ashamed for taking money to do their jobs on both of these books. I'm no English major, but c'mon! Apostrophe 's' for plurals of words, periods where they don't belong, an opening parenthesis with no closing one, photo captions on the page after the photo, etc., etc. How can I trust the 'facts' in this book when they're not even presented in a way I can read them? I'm very disappointed in both these books. I'm sure the authors had their best intentions in mind, with an interesting subject, but somebody took their hard work and turned it into mush. I won't buy any more books published by this company. As a matter of fact, neither one has a copyright page, and the publisher's name is nowhere to be found!
