It does function, but Its a fickle lock.1. Its Silent, so you cant tell from the lock alone if power is engaged to trigger release.2. Alignment is picky, I had to play with the position and plumb of it a lot to get it to release properly. If anything is pulling the 'plunger' when power is applied, you will need to push it closed before it will release.3. It came with two additional brackets, but no indication of what to do with them. One bracket seems to be an L for mounting the plunger, not sure about the other.Update 2 days post install.Maybe it works better on something with less play, or maybe its the weather.... or its just junk. I had an awful time getting it to release. Its not mechanically 'stuck' as I can pull and wiggle the door a good bit, but it wont release. After a couple of minutes of tugging & gentle prying, it would release, and then it was ok for a couple hours, but stuck again 8 hours later. Not impressed, not reliable, would not recommend.

I bought four of these two months ago. I installed them to latch cabinets in my van while driving. So they have only been used for maybe 100 hours. But now one of the four has already failed. That one is stuck and no longer latches. Such a shame because it was working great for my needs. I worry now about how long the rest will last

Wires are not looped or secured in the case. Other than that works well. I strongly recommend removing the back maple and looping the wires to create a knot to prevent them from easily being pulled loose from the coil. With that said I will buy again but I now know what steps to take for longevity of use
