If curious get the online version before buying 40.00 book!
Had I not started highlighting as I read what I thought was going to be an amazing book based upon reviews, it would be going back, but sadly I’mout 40.00 and sadly disappointed !! I own 8-10 Keto books, have done low carb and Keto for a long time, but have struggled to really get dialed in to the correct macros etc. by being overwhelmed with receipes and determining correct macros/ receipe combinations. Finding things that are easy enough but also feel “ worth” eating at all. I longed for a laid out simplified program that I just had to follow to really get in gear and the reviews had me thinking this was it! Now I feel the reviews were written by friends and associates because I disagree that this is a great guide beyond the information section.Pros:1.The information in the front explaining Keto is accurate, easy to read and understand, as well as the section on exercise. I liked the section on your “ why” and the section discussing commitment/ excuses etc. Since I’m very well versed in Keto, this was not new for me but the novice will appreciate the overall knowledge in easy to read format.2. The meal plans and shopping lists are well organized with two options of using left overs or “variety”. Variety just means if you don’t want left overs the next day you’ll eat a different meal versus previous days left overs. I don’t find the receipes offer much variety at all. I guess when you get to section that just shows prepared meat and you can make a “ side” suggestion, you get variety there.CONS:1. The intro discusses fasting and the idea that over time your appetite will decrease and you may often skip meals BUT the first 28 day meal plan has NO menu for lunches, and so they just give suggested foods you can eat like a string cheese or a hard boiled egg, ...a list of about 12 items you can eat but no mention of quantity or macros provided. If you want people to start out Keto and survive at office etc first month, lunch receipes should be provided instead of “ a hard boiled egg or a string cheese. Sorry but not the help I’m looking for in a 40.00 book, even as I like to keep it simple, no receipes for meal 2 is lazy of the authors.2. If I’m going to fast, I would go from dinner previous day until lunch next day , and miss breakfast and so my meal one would be lunch ( and explain please if fasting can I have a coffee or no ?) ALL of the meal one options are very breakfast like foods, many similar “ cereal type” food based upon nuts/ yogurt based or egg based) . All but 1-2 of the breakfasts looked unappetizing to me, the cereals require a coffee grinder to grind the nuts, and “ egg white powder@ often used ( where do I get that ?)3. The macros for the receipes are NOT listed and I thought the reviews specifically said that they were ( or I’d not have bought the book!) if I want to sub out an ingredient etc, I need to know macros and there’s no reason I should pay 40.00 for a 28 day quick start book and have to calculate macros myself via an app !!! I wanted a simple plan. How do I adjust the portion sizes and macros from a 50 gram protein day to a 100 gram protein day ( based upon who I am as the reader) if MACROS AREN’T CALCULATED ?? This is epic fail here! I’d have no idea how many protein grams I’m consuming on the daily because the authors calculated it for you and so what if I eat half of their meal or need to double it? Where am I going to land macro wise? If I don’t know and I’m not losing weight what would I “ fix”? Appalling lack of basic information.3. The receipes are mostly in ounces ( not measured by cups , which is the most accurate way to measure , but without warning to have a good scale this book would be useless. If I wanted to calculate macros myself , and make my own lunch meal plans I’d be doing so with the wonderful receipes in several other books I own already !!! I wanted a simple, laid out for me 28 day plan, I don’t think this book is as advertised at all.5. Receipes rely heavily on eggs / nuts/ yogurt for breakfasts, and avocado, cabbage, califlower rice for dinners. I have read far more appealing receipes on any Keto website for free, and certainly in several Keto cookbooks. I understood that the book was to be easy ( simple) and yet I don’t think they fit that bill either. Konjac flour ? For many breakfasts you need “ egg white powder” for example.I don’t think this book is worth the price. The authors claim there is much mis information on Keto websites etc, but without providing macros for your receipes, a person doesn’t know what they’re eating ( without calculating themselves ) or how to adapt receipes if an ingredient doesn’t work for them. They give example of meat and how to prepare, one page has a steak , two servings. This can vary widely, how big is the steak ? No portion size, no macros. Too much protein can completely thwart weight loss, and if the book is supposed to yield results in 28 days, giving the reader a handle on macros so they can figure out what to adjust is vital. Very disappointed, and so it is back to the drawing board with creating my own meal plans from receipes I already have , with food I’ll actually eat, and macros calculated accurately. This book was a waste of money.

Carrie makes keto doable with this book
I have been doing keto for a couple years, and have stalled out in most ways. Bored with my food choices. I found the Ketovangelist podcast and 'met' Carrie and Brian. They have been so much help to get me out of the doldrums that when I heard about Kickass Keto I wanted to buy the book and try it. Oh My Goodness. The book explains the whole process, and that is good. BUT, the recipes! The shopping lists! I know they were criticized for not adding macros, but Carrie and Brian explain why on their podcasts. I am on my second week, and I don't know how much weight I lost last week, but my waist is smaller. Muffin top is hardly noticeable in just a week! I have enjoyed every meal, and so has my husband. The meals are easy and quick to prepare, and so delicious. And the attention to detail on the shopping list blows my mind! On week one Konjac flour is on the shopping list - get this - because you will need it next week and you might have to order online and Carrie wants you to have it on hand. Anyone who writes a book like this that makes something so complex so simple is not lazy. I plan to stick with this 28 day plan and see how I do. THEN, I am going to buy copies to provide to people who have an interest in keto, but don't know how to start. This book has it all. Oh, and I have a big stack of keto protocol and cookbooks. This is the best, in my opinion. Every recipe has worked, which is more that I can say about the others.

The only thing you need to start kicking ass with keto!
Trying to start keto can be confusing. There's so much conflicting info out there, and as for meal plans? Good ones are hard to find.In this book, Brian, Carrie, and Rekka have come together to give you everything you need to not only start the keto way of eating, but to understand the basic science behind it and give you the tools you need to move forward once you've finished the 28 days. Not only are there meal plans, there are amazingly delicious, fresh, and easy recipes to follow along with the best shopping lists I've ever seen. The shopping lists group each week's menu items by category and also list which recipe each ingredient is used in. In addition to that, recipes with similar ingredients are grouped by week so that you don't waste anything. If you're wondering about exercise, this book covers that, too! The book also includes an exerice tracker as well as a habit tracker.I've been following a keto way of eating for over 2 1/2 years and have seen a lot of books and websites, and this is one of the best resources you'll find. It's worth every penny, and if I could give it 10 stars, I would!

Finally, a diet that works
They told me how Keto works without brain-numbing science. They helped me understand why I really want to lose weight, have more energy and clear out brain fog. They gave me the real tools to work with. The shopping list and meal plans for 28 days couldn't be easier to understand.I don't have to guess about portion size and how many grams of Fat, Carbs and Protein are in each serving. This is where I have fallen down in the past. Most importantly, I won't be alone on this journey. They have plenty of folks willing to share their journey as well.

An Easy Way to Feel So Much Better!
I have always appreciated the ease, variety and deliciousness of Carrie Brown’s recipes. I had been living a ketogenic lifestyle long before this book came out. I love using this book because the recipes are geared toward servings for a single person, with another serving of leftovers for those who have limited time to spend in the kitchen. But the book isn’t just fantastic recipes. There is a clear explanation about why the ketogenic way of eating is so life-changing, along with mindset tips, meal plans, and suggested fitness routines.

The recipes are fantastic.
I am experienced with keto (80 pounds lost so far), so I haven't followed the plan itself entirely. Nonetheless, it did help the stall and I am loving the recipes. The Vanilla Hazelnut Granola is a particular fave.
