Is this done for bare mdf cupboard doors and does it act as sealant as well? So i can just use this and then finishing paint on top?

Yes - you could use it but not the best. A better product would be a primer which is specifically designed and developed for priming and sealing MDF. Can this paint be sprayed on to surfaces if i thin it down with polyurethane thinners

Can you use on plasterboard

Yes it could be used on plasterboard but best to apply a plasterboard sealer first to minimise the absorbency of the board. Contract grade emulsion would do the job just as well.

Can this be used to prevent 'flashing' from using filler to fill cracks in paintwork on interior walls?

Yes I have used this for the same purpose, Just make sure you sand down the filler properly getting rid of any high spots, (Otherwise you'll see bumps after you apply your paint) , Brush on with a brush or roller this drys really quickly so you can give it a second going over if you get any flashing coming through.
