What's it For?
Sure, it offers a lot of amps and a lot of run time, but, it does so at one very apparent expense: SIZEYeah, this is a big battery. Really big. I knew this from reading the other reviews, but for my purposes, it should serve me quite well. And what is that purpose? To power a light in case of a power outage, and for that, it's perfect. To me, given the size and weight of this, it's mostly suited to static operations, IE: those tasks where the tool and the battery aren't going to be moved much, or at all. For a drill, reciprocating saw, impact driver, etc., it is, to me, just too darned big. Same goes for a weedeater, although for a mower this may be just the ticket, and an impact wrench may welcome the extra power under certain circumstances. As to how durable or reliable this will be over the long haul, this is just an unknown at this point, and as I usually advise, read the other reviews on this battery and the companies other products, paying particular attention to the reviews that mention warranty and customer service. My experience is that if you use enough of these-type batteries, either OEM or aftermarket, eventually you WILL need to use that warranty. Initial ratings, not taking into account long-term:For what it is, what it does, and what it costs: Five StarsI am the Totally Unbiased Reviewer Dude (T.U.R.D.) and that is how I see it.

Good additional battery for my Makita tools
This is a good additional battery for my Makita tools. It isn't as good or long-lasting as an OEM Makita battery, but I didn't think it would be. You can see the size difference in one of the pictures showing a 3.0 Ah battery, a 6.0 Ah battery, and this 12.0 Ah battery

Large and heavy, Highest Ah for Makita 18V, Best for stationary tools where weight is not an issue
When I saw an off-brand 18V Makita replacement battery that is listed as a 12Ah capacity, I had to order one. It is definitely much bigger and heavier than a 6Ah battery. We have quite the collection of Makita cordless 18V tools and batteries here, so we will definitely put this one to use in comparison with 5/4/3 & 2Ah OEM Makita 18V batteries, and off-brand 6Ah batteries.Due to its much larger size and weight, I would not choose to use it in drills and drivers. But, for tools like the 200 Watt off-brand AC power inverter, or the floor standing work light that accepts Makita 18V batteries that we have. I may also use it to power our larger Makita impact driver. I ran it in the floor standing shop light at full brightness in comparison with an OEM Makita 5Ah battery and it lasted around twice as long. As with most off-brand/Non-OEM batteries the test of time is required as to their ability to maintain charge and proper function. In a year or two I’ll know how this one performs and compares to OEM performance. For the price and the Ah provided to run tools this is a great option, it is just large and heavy so recommended best for stationary tools where weight and size is not a concern.

Will not work for BL1830 as stated.
Tab on the side of the battery is too tall. Will not fit in my tools. I painted it white so it can be seen better. This is the second time receiving batteries that I can't use!

Too Big for Me
I thought this would be great to have a battery that lasts a long time, but I forgot how big that would make the battery and how much bulk that would add to the tool I'm using. It makes my handy little drill way too big and heavy. The best use for this battery is for something that is stationary, like a circular or table saw (neither of which I own in a Makita). I have attached it to my portable (stick) vacuum and that seems to be the best place for it. I do enjoy not having to change the battery. Just be advised that if you are ordering it for a hand tool, I would pass. If you want it for a larger/stationary tool, then this is a great option.

Powerful
I tested out this battery on my handheld circular saw for a building project in my garage and was impressed with its performance. Although it is quite large, it didn't unbalance my saw or make it too heavy to use comfortably. I also was using it in fairly cool temperatures and didn't find that the cold adversely affected its output.I didn't use the battery long enough to know if it actually has 12 amp hours of charge, but then I rarely if ever use a saw for that long in my DIY life. What I do know is that it worked fine, didn't need recharging for the several days I used it, and when I was done it recharged quickly in my Makita-clone charger.

So far so good
I got this for it's large capacity. It arrived with a healthy charge but I still fully charged it.I've used it several times with no issues at all yet. I'm always leary of Off branded batteries so I'll update this review if anything changes. So far I'm happy with it
