I was hesitant because other reviews stated the magnet was weak. On just the phone, yes, weak. On the mag-safe case I purchased (with the pop out metal ring), it's a very reliable hold. Either way, it came with metal rings that will stick onto the phone or case, that works better with the magnet anyway. I'm calling PEBKAC on them.

I got this as a replacement for a plastic mount I had for a long time. Prior to installing, I was suspicious that the adhesive may not be strong enough or that it would likely not come off. I applied the mount and waited >24 hours prior to using it.In the first test drive, the mount slowly fell off my dashboard due to failure of the adhesive about 5-10 minutes into the drive.When i got home, I was able to peel off the adhesive (which basically is the same glue they use to hold a credit card to a paper in the mail). I will be likely trying to use it with a different 3rd party adhesive because I like that it’s a metal mount… but if I knew I’d have to damage it and repair it (by removing the adhesive to replace it) then I would’ve bought a different mount.Wouldn’t recommend unless you had plans to fasten it with something more robust than a thin moderately tacky gel. And there is not a suction cup either so it doesn’t have any assistance from a vacuum despite it being listed as a feature in the review.

It performs better than expected. Solidly built.

This item is built very sturdy, and the magnet is very powerful when you use the supplied metallic ring. My only complaint is that the pivot points should have some sort of ratcheting or locking mechanism; when you pull the phone off, the arm swings out of the position you set it at and needs constant adjusting each time, which is annoying.Update: The adhesive is weak and the weight of the magnet pulled it off over a 2 weeks window. Will need to use some gorilla tape or real 3m.

Initially it worked and it stuck to the surface, the problem is the sticking part. It fell from the surface after a week and would not stick any further. I didn't pay to much for therefor I didnt try and take it back. Other than that, which is a major part...its pretty sturdy and may, I mean may work better on a glass surface rather htan a plastic surface.

The base did not last long it started swiveling

Magnet too weak to support phones weight. Definitely won't work through phone case.
