SSK 2TB Portable NAS External Wireless Hard Drive with Wi-Fi Hotspot, Personal Cloud Smart Storage
I purchased the SSK-F200 to be used mainly as a NAS drive – as a NAS drive it is very good value. The WiFi facility is a useful bonus..But the main advantage is the ability to operate the drive in NTFS/ExFAT file system. Most NAS devices (even diskless devices) sold these days have bespoke file systems and operating systems, so if the device fails you are committed to either buying the same model again or scrapping the device and losing you data – even if the disk is not affected..I discovered that the drive needs a little customisation, and some features do not work as they should – but workarounds are available – please read on.The drive is supplied formatted to ExFAT – I hit problems copying large files to it (c. >1.4 GB), resulting in errors. As soon as I reformatted the drive to NTFS, this problem disappeared..With NAS drives it is important to use a static IP address, otherwise the drive would have to be remapped each time it is switched on.I found that I could not set a static IP Address using the App or the Windows Webpage – but I overcame this by using the router facility. This failing was acknowledged by SSK..When used in NAS mode I discovered that the WiFi signal is still active even when it is not needed, I mentioned this to SSK as a suggestion for improvement to enable the WiFi to be switched off and they have acknowledged this.Further with WiFi, the signal has a very wide bandwidth – covering at least six channels – perhaps this could be narrowed somewhat and the channel number be user selectable as the signal does interfere with other WiFi devices..One potential problem is that there seems to be no visible means to open the device, so replacing or upgrading the drive is not possible – perhaps SSK can address this aspect too..Accessing the drive via it's WiFi, either though the App of the Windows web page is rather cumbersome since this is straying from the usual Windows Explorer interface..SSK Customer Support is EXCELLENT – I emailed a list of questions to SSK support at the email address contained in the User Manual – I received a reply about 8 hours later (overnight) – VERY fast response and all my questions were politely answered to my satisfaction. The User Manual is quite comprehensive and in good English..I have not tested any of the other software as I prefer the manual approach..A good value, versatile little drive – well worth buying..Hope this helps you decide.

Too complicated considering price tag
I'm not highly technical so bought this device as a simple solution to back up videos and photos from my phone wirelessly. After reading the instructions and watching a few tutorials I attempted setup. Every attempt I made failed. I either had messages stating it wasn't connecting to the device after following to the letter the manual, or finally connecting to the device then stating I needed to connect to the Internet, but not allowing me to connect to the Internet hot-spot in Settings stating 'connection failed', despite being right next to the router. After a full day of repeatedly typing in SSK app and WiFi codes I finally decided this wasn't for me. Was far too stressful to setup and not at all simple as I'd hoped. Not sure if the product was faulty or its just an awful app which only works occasionally, but have sent mine back.

SSK Portable Wireless Memory
The memory works as described. Transferring files by Wi-Fi is a bit slow. Instructions could be better. However, I would buy another if needed.

Great SSD NAS once you figure out how to configure it
I was looking for a NAS Drive to replace my old Seagate NAS drive. I found this one and on paper, it ticked all the boxes.Configuring this is something else. The documentation is not very user friendly. The UI is very poor. And some functions only work on App.Anyway, here is what I did.1. Looked up the Wifi SSIDs. The new SSID was F200xxxxxx. I connected to that.2. Visited 10.10.10.254 and supplied admin/admin as username/password.3. I tried to change admin password on the browser. That did not work.4. Went to network tab on 10.10.10.254 and connected to my wifi network. That allowed the drive to be accessed remotely via app.5. Downloaded SSK App and then, connected to the drive using it's UID6. Changed password on the App. That changed the admin password as well as, password for the F200 network.Once all that was done, I purchased wifi extender - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07XD3SZPW/ - and plugged in ethernet cable into the drive.Drive no longer requires wifi connection and can be accessed on a network IP address that I can see via the App.I am using the drive for backups after mapping it as a drive on my windows laptop.Good idea. Poor execution. However, with a lot of trial-and-error, it works. If the software was more intuitive and worked better, I would have given 5-star as this is a very innovative product.

WOW!!! I have two other portable wireless drives. Where this one wins hands down is that "wonderful little usb net Port" on the rear.I have connected a USB 7 port splitter to this and ran 7 other external drives, 2 Flash drives, 4 usb external drives and a usb sc card. And they ALL appeared in the SKK directory. What a wonderful way to make your entire storage devices, NAS without hassle. Excellent phone, tablet or laptop companion.Love it best buy ever!!
