Great resource! Thorough and practical!
This book will quickly become one of your go-to resources! I wish I had this book 20 years ago! Kendra Fogarty has very thoughtfully and accurately pulled together, in a concise manner, some must-have resources. This books walks you through, step-by-step, the entire safe guard determination process. Her case examples, templates, and timelines are very helpful. If you are new to Section 504 Services, this should be required reading for you. Even if you have experience with Section 504 Services, this book may give you a ideas for a more streamlined approach, new perspectives and hopefully clear up any confusions or questions you may have. Navigating Section 504 Services and procedures can be a stressful and daunting process. With this book in hand, you have access to the experience and wisdom of a veteran school counselor! Get one for yourself and one for a fellow school counselor!

504 is more fun with a friend
504 is daunting, but the author Kendra Fogerty makes it accessible and feel achievable. Two things are evident:-she genuinely cares about her students, and views this role as an enthusiastic student advocate instead of a chore or a burden-504 is not as daunting as it seems. Now I’ve got experience in sped and so I was tangentially aware of portions of this Role. So if I had a complaint, I’d say I would like to see more expansion in some areas, specifically MDR. I don’t know functionally how different this meeting is from one in sped, if at all.All in all, great place to start.

Must Read for ALL 504 Coordinators
What a simple but beneficial book for those writing 504s at your school! I have read several books explaining 504s and how they work, but they can make your head spin. This book is clear, concise and provides many examples to help bring the information together. It also included many definitions of terms and how the process works. I have already recommended this book to my district leadership to be used for new and old coordinators. Wonderfully written and much needed!

great layout of 504 with great examples; does not help with the stress
I found this book well laid out and easy to understand. This book has some great cases, and also some great examples to use for different impairments. I would honestly change the title to how to manage 504 with more confidence an informal guide for coordinators and take out the less stress part, as it can be misleading. As many of us know the stress is felt for multiple reasons with the role of coordinator added to our plate; however, this is a great book especially more so for those new to the role. As one who has been in the role for a while, I enjoyed the examples of possible accommodations for a few of the impairments we see frequently.
