I am very new to sourdough bread making. This is my first attempt. I bought this because it showed up on the recommendations and I am glad that I did! It has everything. Even some stuff I don't know completely how to use yet (the lame). Everything seems well thought out and is really useful. If you are getting started in sourdough bread making, grab this. I am super glad I did! Also be sure to read the instructions, I did not and totally used the whole basket system incorrectly.

I've always had trouble making bread, so I decided to get this set and try again. There are some great tools, but it is not a recipe for success (get the pun?). However, this set inspired me to try again, and through some trial and error, I have made some good bread! I'm excited!First I'll talk about the issues I've had with this set:- The set doesn't come with a recipe. There are tons of bread recipes online, but you would think they would include one in the box. There is one in the product description, but I found a couple online I tried.- While the baskets are really cool, and it explains you need to flour the liner by basically scrubbing flour into the fabric, the dough still sticks to the liner. Putting the dough in a greased bowl works better. I've decided to use the baskets for serving bread rather than proofing dough, which is fine.- The cloth bag they claim will keep your bread fresh (I was skeptical of this, but tried it anyway) makes for extremely stale bread. It's a nice bag and can be used for something else. Save your store bread bags and use those.Now the good stuff:- I love the baking mat! If you wet the counter and then lay it down, it works fantastic! It lays flat and doesn't slide around. It makes cleanup super easy, because you can toss it in your dish water. It folds up small so you can put it in a drawer. The only thing you need to watch out for is it's extremely thin! Use the plastic scraper if you're going to cut dough on the mat, don't use the metal one. I learned the hard way and cut my mat. The cut is on the edge, so I can still use the mat, but it could have been a cut in the center which would have ruined the mat!- The silicone pastry brush is great and so is the Danish whisk. I've used both many times now, and they work fantastic. I don't have a stand mixer, so I have to mix the dough and kneed it by hand.- It comes with two scrapers, one metal and one plastic. Both work well, but as I said above, don't use the metal one on your baking mat.I do like this set, and it did inspire me to make bread. However, I gave it three stars because it's advertised for the proofing baskets, which in my opinion don't work well for proofing. I also think it should come with at least one recipe if not a few. Other than that, I like all of the other items in the set. Also, bread making takes some practice and patience. My mom made homemade bread all the time when I was a kid. She made it look easy, but it really isn't. I do recommend this set.

Bought on sale and worth every penny. Has all the parts you need for sourdough baking in one part.

I am new to making sourdough bread. This was a nice set with most of the essentials to make loaves of sourdough bread.

The only things this kit is missing is the ingredients. Great kit. I use it every week for my sourdough

I'm sold on proofing baskets, so much more versatile than the old school bread pans. The cloth covering comes off easily for cleaning after use and you get a really nice size and shaped loaf. Really a decent choice, and everything is included!
