The Hollow Point

"You got a face like a thumb."
You should know your day is not going to end well when the miserable rotten alcoholic corrupt rural border-town sheriff pulls you over but has to slug back a vomitorious quantity of dollar-bin whisky before he can even get out of the car.Had low expectations going in but was very pleasantly surprised. Delightfully gobsmacked even at how sparse, punchy and sarcastically understated the dialogue is. Four very familiar actor faces star in this dark and deadly story of cartel tentacles in a dusty outpost on the American side of the border. John Leguizamo is 100% convincing as walking evil. Heck, even Jim Belushi did a good job as a slimy used car salesman who hasn't sold a car since his wife left him years ago, yet he's still somehow able to keep his dealership afloat. The violence and blood had me covering my eyes several times throughout, but the unpredictable dialogue, moments of suspense and crisp direction kept me watching once the blood stopped spurting like a lawn sprinkler. Music was perfect at every turn.Nicely done, this one.

Tight, intense western — much better than expected
There are no heroes in this western. But there are some great performances from Patrick Wilson and Ian McShane. Poor Lynn Collins struggles with some of the worst "damsel in distress" dialogue I've ever heard, but she makes it work. Ian McShane, on the other hand, seems to have brought a script doctor straight from Deadwood and he makes his dialogue sing. And John Leguizamo is authentically frightening. Overall, much better than I expected. I thought I'd keep it on in the background as I worked on some things, but found myself unable to take my eyes away.

Exposed
A dynamic chemistry of cat and mouse characters as they enter the dark world of border territory and all that it brings.Whatever inhabitants lie among town and a vast and desolate desert highway -- both fight for survival. The new sheriff played by Patrick Wilson, sent to retire former sheriff and clean up the problems by the border, quickly turn ugly.Soon the distracted good cop is no match for the well seasoned lethal cartel hit man played by John Leguizamo. An underground of greed, betrayal and decadence makes this story work because it holds nothing back. It's brutally raw without any superficial glamour in other junk films.

What I wrote when tripping on 2 tabs of acid
The worst, most convoluted plot I have ever seen. Examples: 1) Guy gets shot and left for dead in the desert and 5 minutes later is talking to another character with no explanation. 2) People are being killed for being on a list, but no explanation why. 3) One character keeps looking for money to get off the list, but doesn't explain who he is going to give it to and how it will help. And those are the most CLEAR moments in this dog. Why Patrick Wilson decided to get involved in this one is a mystery. But you aren't being paid to watch it and have been forewarned -- don't watch it, save the time for important things like, like, like .... ANYTHING else.

Fun, not fantastic
I'm not a film critic, but I know what I like. This was fun to watch and had some surprises but, in my opinion, it could've been better.

One of my favorite movies
Hits every note of dark in the middle of the day, with that Sheriff for a day. I never heard of this movie until now. It's the kind of movie you know they have in them to make but just hard to find.I don't even get what the thing is with the "list" but this movie is so good you don't need to know.

... ever produced plenty of brutal action for those that love a great action packed movie Ian McShane as sheriff ...
One of the most reality based movies that was ever produced plenty of brutal action for those that love a great action packed movie Ian McShane as sheriff Leland Kilbaught is by fare one of the best actors in this production in my opinion in an ever increasing violent wold we need more men like this character to combat those who would cause conflict in our society and the world as the old saying goes fight fire with fire I Highly Recommend The Hollow Point for its real life quality and top notch cast

HOLLOW & POINT-LESS !
Forgettable Mexican Border Cop crime drama which I found a bit confusing and unoriginal .Love 'Ian McShane but he was wasted here as an ageing 'battle scarred' small town Sheriff .Nice to see Jim Belushi again in something but they are all better than this .Very average !
