The endurance athlete's best friend
A local pro triathlete was raving about BRJ and I read about it being the in-thing at the Olympic training center. I don't usually follow fads or believe that "natural remedies" really work but I'm interested in any legal edge in my amateur triathlon development. After a few weeks of taking a daily shot of this liquid BRJ, I noticed that a lot of aches and pains that I normally wanted to use ibuprofin for were suddenly and dramatically no longer there. I mean it's like night and day to me. This is the first time that a "natural remedy" really hit me like "this stuff works". I had been taking beet root powder in capsule form but those deliver just a small fraction of the beets if you compare labels, and like other things I've tried I didn't notice anything happening. I've read that the flavonoids in foods (the particles that give fruits and vegetables their color) have an anti-inflammatory effect, notably in a study of the adverse effects of ibuprofen taken by ultra runners while competing in the Western States 100 miler. There's also some evidence or belief that BRJ helps capillaries develop or deliver more/better red blood cells to muscle fiber during endurance events but I can't say I noticed this effect. To me just being able to train hard 6 of 7 days every week without ever having to take unnatural ibruprofin makes this a great addition to my daily routine - one shot on an empty stomach every morning. About the taste, I think it tastes generally OK in a V8 vegetable juice sort of way. I have been through like 6 bottles now and I have noticed that the taste varies. Sometimes sweeter than others. I take that to be natural variation in the beets that were used. Is it delicious? No, I wouldn't drink it for pleasure. But as medicinal/healthy/natural things go it's OK. To me it's better tasting than black licorice and not as good as banana chips. Somewhere on par with seaweed snacks if that helps. But the benefits I've seen have made me a believer.

A very good supplement especially worth considering if heart related issues.
For me, high cholesterol, occasional afib, low tolerance for statins and cholesterol medications this is a very helpful supplement. No noticeable side effects, consistent sinus rhythm, I consider this to be a great supplement.

Organic beet root juice
Works well on my blood pressure. Not the very best tasting stuff ever, but it does taste like beets. This is not sweetened beet juice, more like eating a beet right out of garden. 2 tablespoons once a day keeps my blood pressure in check, without blood pressure medicine, or at least so far.

Nitrates! They work.
Maybe I'm weird but I love the taste, I drink it undiluted. It's sugary drinks that I find unacceptable. I also believe in veggies that contain nitrates. They really do have an impact on blood pressure and vascular system.

Beet Juice pulp is hard to swallow
This was an experiment for myself trying Beet Juice. It was unknown to me at the time of order that pulp was not only included, but took up 1/3 of the container. My first thoughts was to mix it again in my Ninja blender, but to no avail. The taste was satisfactory, but I could not dismiss the grainy texture from the pulp. I am not complaining about this at all, as the taste was neutral. I am simply alerting others that someone (like me) does not read the complete label and might not be able to gulp the pulp down. Nuff Said :-)

Spoiled!?
I bought several bottles of this, the first 5 or 6 were a dark brown color and tasted like dirt. I looked up some things and thought maybe it was just oxidation or something. I think it also gave me stomach issues. Then I received one a couple weeks ago and the liquid was red in color and it actually tasted like beets. And, I didn't have any stomach issues. So, I ordered another one and received it today and sure enough it was a nasty, dark, foul smelling liquid. Something weird is going on, maybe it doesn't ship well? But, at 18 bucks a pop I'm not taking any more chances since there are no returns. I will be switching to the beet root pills.
