Works well on carbon, but its still takes some work on piston heads and muzzles.
I received this mostly to get the carbon off AK type pistons and muzzle devices. This is where the super baked on carbon is. Most people probably don't bother to clean these places but I have collector stuff and want it to stay in perfect condition, even if I'm using them.I've used every carbon product in the world. The ammonia based solvents are too harsh and if you get them on the paint......bye bye paint. Ask me how I know..... This is not a super harsh product and is not toxic smelling and doesn't peal back paint. The worst carbon product was the slip2000 "carbon killer". This product fits in with some of the better ones. This and also boretech eliminator are my go to for carbon removal.Unfortunately, there is no free lunch. If you have baked on carbon it is going to take some work with a brush to get it all off. Elbow grease, as they say.The instructions say to spray on and let sit for a minute or two. It was easier to remove carbon after letting it sit but again, you'll have to spray, sit, brush over and over to get it completely clean. The solution doesn't not smell toxic and is water based but it does not smell great.I would recommend this product.

Bottle was opened
Bottle arrived opened and partly filled the plastic cover. Got most of it back in bottle but sprayer would not tighten down. Stuff does not work all that well so I chucked the remainder.

As advertised
Avid firearms collector - tried many different cleaners and lubricants over the years. This CLP has worked reasonably well - difficult to quantify or qualify a difference in efficacy when compared to the standard CLP breakfree. I will say that from a value perspective, the product appears more than expensive than other similar products based on cost per volume. Overall, no complaints. Functioned as it should. There are many CLP products to choose from, I don’t believe this differentiates itself from the pack.

Great Solvent Free Alternative
I used this cleaner to clean several of my guns, including my AR, M&P 9mm and M&P 40 Shield. I had been putting off cleaning them and they had quite a bit of carbon buildup. After spraying and letting it sit a few minutes, I took a brush to them. I was surprised at how much came off with very little scrubbing. I followed it up with my normal cleaner. I will definitely recommend this to my friends who also enjoy the sport.

An honest review
Thos product is OK. I cannot say it's great and I cannot say it Is terrible. To start, the aroma of this cleaner is strong! Most gun cleaning solvent have a strong smell. Almost like brake cleaner and alcohol. However, this is one of the strongest smelling I have used. To be honest no one would care but if you have babies or pets that is something you should think about. As for how the cleaner itself works, half and half. It does not seem to penetrative the best. There was a foaming brand I used to use, problem is I don't remember who made it and that is what I compare all cleaners to. That stuff was amazing. With it not being the best at penetrative and lifting out all the gun, there is a lot more mopping the barrels and such. This is an pretty decent sized bottle which is nice. The cost for the size is OK. It could be a bit cheaper. The cost for it's performance is way too high. Mine ended up in the trashcan after first use.

effective
It is effective and I appreciate that is comes in a spray. It is much more effective then elbow grease to get carbon off. The smaller bottle also means it is easy to keep in a mobile kit. The ability to spray also lets it get into harder to apply areas where with a traditional bottle I feel like I am just making a mess.

works well and does not harm the finish
This stuff is great for getting the carbon build up of gas pistons, muzzle breaks, bolt carriers, etc. Just spray it on, let it sit, and then scrub with a brush or wipe with a cloth. May take several passes with stubborn spots. The great thing is that it does not harm the finish on my firearms. This is a good product that I can recommend.
