I was upset about the size of the device at first, but I needed to use it to help clean a large tank. I dropped the skimmer in the tank for a few hours and it filtered very well. It can be a bit noisy depending on the direction of the return. It is small and effective! Power cord could be a little longer for big tanks.

This is a drag to take apart and clean but totally worth it.

Removed all surface debree from my tank water looks great.

I didn’t think I’d be getting a lot for the price, but I at the least expected to be able to use it. First of all the cord is at the bottom and not fastened at the top at all so when it comes loose, it falls upside down. Which brings me to my second complaint, which is the suction cups that do not hold but for a little while so it’s constantly coming loose and falling upside down. Which brings me to my third complaint which is, it constantly falls apart…literally. It comes loose, turns upside down, then falls apart…the little pump falls off in one spot, the main body in another, then the flow rods come off. Hence, I’m unable to use it. I ended up reordering my previous skimmer from Oddysea since this one is useless.

I have 2 axolotl tanks. Once has an Eheim Pro canister filter that cycles the water and agitates the surface the other tank has a slightly less robust, but very effective, filter that does not agitate the surface. My second tank always develops a sheen of oil and debris that unhealthy looking. I thought about finding an overflow box to integrate into my system, but those get expensive and would have to be customized to my system. The surface skimmer rises and falls with evaporation, but some tank owners may notice that they cannot let their tank get as low as usual before having to top off their water levels. To clean, unplug and remove the whole unit from the tank. I take mine apart to scrub individual pieces of algae and tank slime. The inside of the skimmer has a cube of filter sponge that can be removed and rinsed in hot water before placing the unit back in the tank.- Mr. Tom

It does its job. Sucks the water and debris from the top, then jets water out. The top portion is easy to make loose and the water can go in through the crack, which is not good for the pump (debris buildup) or the fish/critters in the tank (possible ouch). When you’re installing it in the tank or adjusting it, make 100% sure it is fully connected to the top portion.You can put some media sandwiched between filter sponge for a bit more filtration.

This works ok. Not overly impressed as it feels to be cheaply made. It has worked well for a week without issue

Easy to set up and use.Seems more durable than I thought it would be.
