If you're a type 1 diabetic, you understand the important of having something that is 1) tasty 2) convenient to carry and 3) fast acting for treating low blood sugars. Why? Low blood sugar can be one of the most dangerous aspects of living with diabetes due to the immediate effects. High blood sugar can be bad, but it typically takes time to develop life threatening emergencies with it as long as you're still getting insulin.So, how does this glucose gel rate?I'll start with what I consider it's weakest point:The taste. Personally, I can't stand the taste at all. I've read other reviews and some love it. Personally, it's just not for me. Of course, taste is subjective - so, what I may hate, you may love. I thought I'd at least like it, but sadly, that was not the case. Unfortunately, this is an important metric because if you can't stomach the flavor - how do you expect to down it quickly when having to deal with low blood sugar? To reiterate: TASTE IS IMPORTANT SO TEST THE FLAVOR BEFORE YOU NEED TO USE IT. I say this in all caps because I once had EMS called because my blood sugar got so low that I was out of it, but still conscious. I was given a pop to raise my blood sugar, but the person didn't know I didn't like the flavor.... so I just refused to drink it because my sugar was low and I didn't know better. Don't make the same mistake. Thankfully, the mistake was caught quickly and I am still here today.Next metric? Convenience to carry / ease to keep on hand. The packs are small, but filled with 16g of carbs (despite the label saying 15g on the front - rounding?). Being small and flat, they are easy to pocket carry. The packaging seems durable, so the gel doesn't just randomly leak out causing a giant mess.Final metric: Speed of raising the blood sugar. This is glucose in a gel form - which makes it work pretty quick. Think juice or candy type quick. Of course, this is assuming you can stomach the taste and get it into your system quickly.All in all, I'm still giving this 4 stars because the main thing that detracts from this is the flavor - which is my personal taste and should not influence others. The amount of carbs are great for most people (15g is the typical recommended amount of carbs to treat a typical low). The packaging is convenient to carry and doesn't leak everywhere (which I've had happen with other products - yuck!). So, as long as you like the taste - this is a great product. If you don't like the taste, I'd recommend trying a different flavor.

This is a quick sugar boost when you need it.I was expecting a more orange parfait taste, but found it to be almost flavorless. On the other hand, it did provide the sugar pick-me-up that I needed at the time and that was more important.

Ordered these for my daughter for situations where she needs a little sugar boost before sports. Sometimes she has to go straight from school to practice and doesn't have a chance to get a snack. If she doesn't get anything, then she runs the risk of feeling nauseated and like she's going to pass out. These are absolutely great to provide her the pickup she needs in those situations. They're very easy to keep in her workout bag for whenever she needs it, and they're easy to consume on the go.Really great product on all fronts, except that they are a little pricey. We're definitely using them, but given the price, I'm encouraging her to use these as emergency backups and to try to actually get a snack whenever she can.Other than that, these are great!

To start, I'm not diabetic. However, I've had moments while playing pickleball for extended amounts of time in the southern heat and humidity that I've started to feel a little lightheaded, with a big dip in my energy. I do stay well hydrated, especially before and during play, sometimes even supplementing with sugar-free electrolyte powder. Occasionally, though, I forget to eat before I play, especially in the early mornings. I've seen tennis players use energy gels while playing, so I thought I would give these LEVEL Life fast-acting glucose gel packs a try. I've only used one packet so far. It was on a morning when I totally forgot to eat prior to playing two hours of early morning pickleball, in high humidity and hot temps. About three quarters of the way through playing, I started feeling a little weak. I knew I was staying adequately hydrated, so I quickly consumed one of these packets, and within a very short amount of time I felt normal, with renewed energy. These packets are very convenient, easy to open, and the taste and consistency is pleasant. In no way am I giving medical advice, simply stating my success with these gel packs; therefore, I'll always keep one of these LEVEL Life gels in my pickleball bag, as I find them to be quite helpful.
