Cat hated it, so she pulled it off
Useless. My hellbeast did not like how it felt on her paws so she neatly pulled it off the sofa with her teeth.

Worked for us
We just moved into a new house and one of our cats decided that it was his mission to bolt out into our garage anytime the interior garage door was opened. Obviously, I couldn't fault the little guy for wanting to explore his new, mysterious room, but I needed to break him of his habit to avoid him escaping when the main, exterior door is open. For kicks, I decided to search for cat deterrent to see what has been brought to the market. I found this tape and figured it looked more or less "gimmicky," but was worth trying for the price. I put two strips of this clear tape down on the carpet right at the threshold leading into our garage, then sat back and watched. Just as advertised, the cat approached the door then nearly jumped back in surprise as his paw made contact with the tape. He sat for a while staring at it and trying to figure it out, but to no avail. He made the connection and has not yet approached that door again. Now he has no interest in even entering that portion of the hallway. For me, this has been an effective training tool without causing any harm to my cats. This purchase was worth the money and I would recommend it to a friend. I will say, however, that I am not really sure this couldn't be substituted with your standard double-sided tape from virtually any office supply store.

Might be a miracle
Yesterday I attached my tape to an expensive recliner. After moving it to my bedroom the cats had decided it was a new scratch post. So far both have tried and stopped a scratch. Today one bypassed the chair and proceeded to his scratch post thanks

the brand I bought at first was garbage and would fall off when touched
I do not blame this tape for what happened, but I wanted to give fair warning to other cat folks! My Paloma ran her tail against some of this that was on the back of a chair, and it stuck to her, crinkled up, and stuck to itself, all around her tail. She, understandably, panicked. I got ahold of her and tried to see if I could pull it off - DO NOT DO THIS. It is very strong and will not come off. I called the emergency vet to see if they could remove it, and they suggested that I first try mixing a bunch of Dawn dish soap with water and loosening up the adhesive that way. Well, I wrapped her up to restrain her comfortably, and after maybe 20 or so minutes of soaking that tail and tape in soapy water, it FINALLY did come off. So if you get this tape and this happens to you, use the Dawn dish soap!!I will likely not purchase again not because of the risk, though I know the odds of this happening again are probably slim.OLD REVIEW:I wish I'd bought this one before, the brand I bought at first was garbage and would fall off when touched. This stuff, along with the addition of an excellent scratching post, really really made such a huge difference right away!

Expensive but highly effective
I bought a fabric storage bench that my two cats took to as a new scratching post so in my quest of looking for double sided tape, I came across this. Before applying, I glided scotch tape over the surfaces where I would be placing the double sided tape to help remove hair and then I applied the double sided tape. Unlike other reviews, I did not have a problem removing the tape backing, so maybe they have improved their design? The tape has held up well, even with investigation by my cats, but there is one flaw I failed to think of before purchase - the tape is sticky...so my cat's fur get stuck to it and your furniture inevitably looks like it has grown hair. This is not a problem of the tape itself, but more of the functionality. I replace it because of this and it isn't necessarily cheap

Great product!
I bought this to protect a new chair from being scratched by the cats. It arrived in 2 days, is very easy to apply, and so far the cats have not scratched on it at all. In areas where my blanket brushes against it, some of the tape has become non-sticky on the outside, but that is to be expected. I will replace it as often as I need to, but haven't yet and no scratching. As this roll is 15 yards (45 feet) long, it will last me a long time.If the cats get over their desire to scratch on the chair, I can use it for other double-stick tape needs. So it won't go to waste, either.

Didn’t work
We finally got fed up with our cat jumping on the counter so I was hoping this tape would work. I put it on my kitchen counter and on the tv stand. Within two hours my cat jumped on top of it and was a bit surprised but then started licking it. My cat licks everything so this was not a surprise but he wasn’t even phased by it. In fact, he seemed to be curious and would jump up there just to check it out. I left it for a week before giving up. So it did not work. The tape itself is really good quality so at least I’ll have double sided tape for future use. It’s clear and sturdy. Pulling it off was fairly easy, it didn’t break into many pieces, but it is really strong so it took a bit of muscle. I read another review that suggested “tearing” the edge of the tape to pull off the paper and that really helped.Once I took it off my tv stand (some kind of coated wood) it was fine. My counters (laminate), however, had a sticky residue all over it. I used alcohol and a steel sponge with a LOT of elbow grease to get it off.Even though this didn’t work it is a good double sided tape but it is also expensive so two stars in my opinion.

Stops Cats From Scratching Furniture
This tape works very well at getting your furry critters to stop scratching your furniture. All of our furniture is either fabric or micro-suede and it sticks well to these surfaces. It is a bit difficult getting the tape backing off, but it is easy to apply and the versatility to put it where you need it is the biggest selling point of this tape versus the pad type. Our kitten has spent quite a bit of time trying to bite the tape off the corner of the couch, unsuccessfully. She has not scratched at all in the areas we applied the tape. It is a bit unsightly if it is in a high traffic area. Our cat attacks the arm rest area of the couch, and it is a bit of a pain having sticky tape on the arm rest. Nevertheless, it works VERY well for the intended purpose. I would buy another roll should it be needed.

Training tape
Our cat has not tried to shred the couch where the tape is attached, which is as we had hoped. I did not give the product five stars only because I don't know whether the tape would still adhere if the kitty did try to scratch there, and also because I haven't removed the tape and ascertained that, as advertised, it did not leave residue behind. Mind, these reasons for withholding a star are not the fault of the manufacturer, but simply unknowns.

Doesn't adhere for more than 20 mins
The ideal of this product is quite good, however it has failed us unfortunately. We were using it on our parson dining chairs and despite it going on smoothly and easily, within 20mins it began to fall off the chairs without any cat or human contact. The adhesion appears to be quite strong initially but in a short period of time, the tape strands were semi attached or on the floor. A good attempt, unfortunately money wasted.

Its OK, but not as sticky as it needs to be
Love the large roll, which comes in handy, as it doesn't stick very well. I thought my cat was peeling it off, as I found it on the bottom legs of my chairs every morning; turns out it is just unsticking and floating down to stick to the wood legs. You have to be careful peeling it off the wood, or else it will remove the stain. I wish it stuck to the fabric as well! Also, the backing is not as easy as it could be to peel off. Love the size, but I probably won't purchase again.

Great cat scratching deterrent but...
It is amazing how putting this two-sided tape on anything does stop my five cats from not only scratching but even going on things. You can only use it on fabric items of course because it would take the finish off anything wood.My only concern is that it's next to impossible to separate the top layer of paper from the top of the tape once it's been stuck to your furniture. I've had to use a pair of tweezers and a lot of patience to separate them. There is another brand of this type of tape that comes with a dispenser which is easier to separate but it's a lot more expensive for much less product.
