Very good rod
Kastking has a reputation for budget friendly equipment. I have several of their reels and have been mostly pleased with the performance of each one. This rod, however, takes Kastking to a new level in terms of quality fishing equipment. My impression is that Kastking really wanted to produce a high-end rod, and they succeeded with this endeavor. The sensitivity is as good as any rod I have owned, including Shimanos, St. Croix, and others known for their peak performance. The reel seat is solid and holds the reel like a rock. The guides work well with mono, fluorocarbon and braid, and the rod casts exceptionally well. In my opinion, the rod excels in terms of sensitivity. I can readily feel bottom contour when jig or worm fishing, and bites are easily detected. Kastking has produced a real winner with this rod.

Outstanding purchase and Exceptional Quality
This is a well built fishing pole. The construction is beautiful, and very light and sturdy. The company does not lie about the 3 directional weave of the carbon fiber matrix. This is very sturdy, and gives the pole a lot of strength while also looking beautiful. The strength to weight ratio works well, as I tested the malubility of the rod end several different directions and this has great distance (perfect for those bigger fish). I am very pleased with the packaging and shipping it was sent in as well. As you can see if it sent in a very sturdy card cardboard container, and has foam at the end eyelet, and is in plastic wrap to assist in keeping it scratch, and debris free. The handle was well packaged, covered, and held in place with the plastic around it. The cork handle is beautiful, and fits perfect in my hand. Very pleased and will be enjoying this beauty for years to come.Overall: Very satisfied customer. Packing and delivery was well within expectations, and the product is exceptional quality for the price. Thank you KastKing for putting out such good quality products.

This is a great looking and feeling rod! It is super light weight and sensitive. Everything about this rod is top notch and the packaging was great. No worries about it getting damaged during shipping. Highly recommend.

Huge step up in quality from the lower end KastKing gear
KastKing has made a huge step up in terms of quality with this series, the majority of KastKing rods are in the lower price range and use lower end components. On the Assegai they went all out and built a true performance rod using Fuji guides and reel seats, IM9 blanks, and nice Cork+EVA inlayed grips. I purchased the 7'4" power spin rod and it has worked great for tossing everything from weightless senkos to larger chatter baits or jigs. I paired the rod with a Lews HyperMag reel in 3000 size with 12lb fluorocarbon line, and it makes for a great low weight combo that packs a punch. The sensitivity on this rod is insane; even the smallest bites can be felt (see photo of tiny bass on a weightless Senko). Casting distance is also great, even with lighter baits.Things I like about the rod:1. The cork + EVA grips feel great2. Sensitivity is crazy high. you can feel every pebble on the bottom3. the white blank with carbon fiber + black looks sharp4. High quality guides5. It is built correctly, on-spine6. lightweightI deducted 1 star for the following reasons:L1. The diameter of the thread used on the decorative wraps and guide wraps is too large; using a size-A thread would provide a much smoother and more uniform look, I'm guessing the thread used is a size-D for durability. A few of the wraps could be more tightly packed as well2. The rod tube it arrived in was bent near the middle; the rod was un-damaged but using a slightly thicker cardboard would better protect the rod in shipping. I did like that they used a plastic insert to keep the rod centered in the tube versus using packing paper / bubbles around the blank. \3. I don't really like the 3 trim bands where the rod specs are. Purely aesthetic and no impact to performance of the rod.4. The rod specs are on the top of the blank when holding it in the fishing position. When it's laying on the deck of my boat, having that visible from the side would much better. Once I'm fishing I don't want to stare at all that text.5. The name - it looks too similar to two other words that I would not necessarily want on a fishing rod. A quick google search shows that it means "a slender hardwood spear or light javelin usually tipped with iron and used in southern Africa."

Light weight for a flipping rod!
I ordered this new KastKing 7' 5" Flipping Rod so that I'd have a backup in case I break my other rod. My first impressions are that the rod is crazy light weight which I love in a fishing rod!... The components appear to be all high quality materials with quality craftsmanship. I've owned several KastKing rods and reels over the years and they produce a quality product. This rod feels like it lives up to that quality that I've come to expect from this company. The rod has 12 micro-guides to help increase sensitivity and bite detection. The one component I wish they'd modify in the design is to put the hook keeper above the reel rather than on the butt of the rod. This way when you reach for the rod you know you're clear of the hook.I know this doesn't effect the quality but I do like the color scheme of the white rod with the metallic silver thread used on all the component wrappings. The handle has a small cork section and features a few carbon fiber styled components. The rod blank continues through the reel mount with bare rod available for getting a better feel of sensitive bites.I haven't hooked into a fish yet with the rod to speak to it's action and performance but from experience I can tell by the feel that the listing is accurate as being a Heavy Action rod with a Fast Tip. My plan is to pair the rod with a Curado DC reel for ultimate backlash prevention. I have a good feeling that this will be a very productive rig!

This one is nice
I’m a big fan of this rod. If you’re looking for a good all around spin rod that you can hit spots a decent distance away, then the spin out will not disappoint. I even tried to bird nest a lews custom and it took a few tries. I’ll probably be getting another one in the near future.
