Worked great for my project. Easy to use and made of durable materials. Great value for money.

First, use soap or wax on the bit to keep the friction down otherwise it gets hot and begins sticking to the guide and can bend slightly. In softer woods like pine this thing is fantastic. It doesn't funnel the wood shavings out of the hole so make sure to drill a little and pull back out to remove them. I tried using this in some harder wood (white oak) and it was considerably less stable results. For what I paid for this thing and the use I got out of it, it was well worth the money and I'd definitely buy it again. The only other issue is wearing out the screws that hold it in place. If you have a lot of holes to drill I highly recommend getting some extra wood screws about 3/4" - 1" long.

I love this device! I build floating shelves quite often and need to make sure that the drill hole is situated in the exact center of the board. You can't go wrong with this dowel jig. The two small screws that come with the device, hold the centering hole in the exact middle where it is supposed to be. And it also keeps the drill bit aligned straight!

Perfect tool to help a DYI project. These wormy maple shelves were 11-3/4" wide and we had to drill 9" depth perfect to center in order to line up shelf brackets. Drill bit included, was a bit short and had to go get a longer bit, but for a standard project, the bit in the kit would be fine. Suggest using g a small amount of wd-40 on metals prior which help prevent friction.

I wish I could give this product 5 stars. The jig works great, however, as others have posted, I did not receive the correct size bit, so I can't complete my project. I'm very disappointed. The photos list the size as 1/2 inch/12.3mm either size would have worked for my project, but 12mm is way to small. Please send the 9 inch long 1/2 inch bit that I ordered.

The jig and provided drill bit worked very well. The problem I encountered was that the drill bit is actually slightly less than 1/2". After struggling to pound on the first shelf and removing it from the half on / off wedged position, I used a different 1/2" drill bit which was all that was needed. The shelf slid on easily now. So drill twice - once with the supplied bit, remove the jig, and drill again with an actual 1/2" diameter bit (which won't fit thru the jig).

worked great for my project. However I had to buy a size larger drill bit to get the holes loose enough to be able to mount on the wall more easily. But that has nothing to do with the jig itself and more with the size of the mounting rods. Only way to get straighter holes is with a drill press.
