Q: is there a way to make it stay (door) open temporarily when necessary?

This particular closer does not come with a hold open feature. You would have to use a kick down door stop or something similar to hold the door open. Hope this helps.

Q: Is the door closer ada compliant?

This particular door closer is not rated for ADA. You have to choose the LYNN Hardware DC7016, DC8016 or the DC9016 model....these models you can adjust the spring power from 1-6 (six being the strongest and 1 being the weakest strength) size 1 is considered ADA compliant as it requires less than 5 pounds of force to open the door. The DC8016 and DC9016 also come with the "delayed action" adjustment valve as well. (This will hold the door in the "open" position for an extended period of time before closing...which is nice to allow wheel chairs to pass through before closing the door. Hope this helps !

We purchased the item for a new ten room inn. The guests are mostly couples and seniors. We have not had any issues with opening the doors. However, the device is adjustable so maybe speak with a handyman or contact the manufacturer. Best of luck

Q: What's the length of the product from one side to the other?

The overall dimensions are 7.125 " from one end to the other. The mounting hole spacing from center to center is 6.5" Hope this helps.
