I bought TWO of these fishing poles as gifts. They ABSOLUTELY loved them. Used often, they are built and made of good quality, look great and have vibrant colors (I bought a red and black one) Really nice value for the money. I highly recommend for both the new and experienced fishing fans.

I bought my 10 year year-old this rod in December2023 for Christmas. Thought it was a good deal despite some of the negative reviews that were left which the common denominator of the negative reviews were that the rod would just simply break snap at the tip. My wife and I took a chance on it my son was excited and loved the way it looked and felt, first half pound bluegill that bit broke the tip off the rod just like it said on other peoples negative comments? They’re not gonna do nothing for us on Amazon. I can’t do nothing because “it’s been to long ago.” it’s circumstantial here to have known earlier like I couldn’t take him fishing until yesterday. You know Ohio it freezes in early year because winter comes late and school ended just a month ago. it just broke by foot and half of it not on the joint broke off the top of the rod.He takes a lot of honors classes in summer as well so we just got out to go fishing for the first time this season so Amazon’s not trying to do anything for me as far as refunds or exchanges are concerned I’m relying on onebass to reach out and help us manage this.

Not as expected.

For some, it should be rated at five stars. For others, it would be barely two. It has some very nice features, and it has some issues. Upon receipt, I spooled the reel with about 100 yards (which is its capacity) of 30 lb. braid. I attached a 1/2 oz practice plug, and began casting. I was able to throw the plug quite easily, but I didn't push it to the edge of its range. The ten button magnetic braking system works well, but you still need an educated thumb. The two piece casting rod is nice, but limited. The components appear well made, but the guides are several sizes too large for freshwater fishing, IMO. While the running guides and tip appear to have #6 size rings (which are appropriate), the gathering and transition guides are simply too big. There is a lot of needless weight added to the blank because of them. Also, this is a medium power rod rated for 5/8 oz lures. While it handled the 1/2 oz plug quite well, I doubt that it will work well with heavier lures. For bass fishing, this really limits your choice of presentations. The price point is very attractive for novice anglers, and especially so for younger fishermen of limited means. However, I am not sure that this reel is the best choice for those learning to use a baitcasting reel. There are better options available for those new to baitcasting, albeit at a somewhat higher price. The bottom line, despite its very appealing asking price, this probably isn't the best choice for newbies. If you are a more experienced fisherman, and are looking for an inexpensive backup combo for throwing lighter lures, this could be an ideal setup for you. Lastly, it is an inexpensive reel, and the drag washers are a bit suspect. A $12.00 investment in a set of carbon disc drag washers would be money well spent.. This combo would be a very good choice for some, and not so good for others. The only unanswered question I have concerns durability. As I learn more about that I will update this review if required.
