Funny
I read this book to my kindergarten class when we went to the library. They laughed a lot. I knew I needed to add to my personal library.

Fun and creative
It’s a really fun book with a good message. We used it to inspire potato book characters at my school.

Important lesson about physical appearances for children.
We love Rot. We love that even though he felt pressure to be like everyone else, he decided to be just himself. Important lessons for children, especially in times where social media pressures younger and younger generations to have perfect looks!

Rot has so much to offer readers...
Rot has so much to offer readers. First up, honesty. Yes it’s okay to like to win, yes we all compare ourselves to others and yes we all have considered doing something we are not supposed to. Then there’s Rot’s joy of being who he is regardless of how he measured up to others. And to top it all off, when he shows us his best side, it truly is hilarious, even the third time around! I value how Ben Clanton presented the idea that we all have a group we belong to, we all have our people, without making it a teachable moment, saccharine, or overly explaining the outcome, demonstrating he believes in his readers’ ability to think and draw their own conclusions.

Awesome read aloud for students
My first grade students are OBSESSED with this book as a read aloud and often argue over who gets to read it during free read. The unique character of a Rotten Mutant Potato captivates little kids imaginations. The author’s multiple messages are great to teach into as well: Be happy with who you are, don’t let others bring you down, believe in yourself, don’t judge a book by it’s cover, and most importantly be kind. WARNING: a potato Tushie is in a picture and may cause uncontrollable laughter!

Creative and Funny!
Another fantastic book by Ben Clanton! My students recognize his name and get excited for all his books. They are thrilled to read his books. So, I can't say enough good things about Ben Clanton and his books. Rot, The Cutest in the World is a funny book that helps kids have discussions about ignoring negative talk from others, not judging someone by their appearance, and having the self-confidence to take chances. I have read this book to children and adults, and everyone has loved it so far. Truly, a great book.

Rot, the greatest in children’s books
This was purchased for Christmas after checking it out at the library. My daughters and I enjoyed the goofy antics and mom and I liked the message. Ben Clanton’s stories and illustrations are fun and visually simple but impactful. He reminds us of mo Willems a favorite amongst many parents.

Great story, different than I expected
Cute story and lovy illustrations. Purchased as my daughter loves the Narwhal books by this author and this was suggested as a similar graphic novel but this is a regular story book.
