Love it!

Been using this for about a month now in a school theater to connect our lighting system to QLab and I absolutely love this thing! The best thing is that there is no setup needed: no drivers, no downloading anything, etc. The price point is a little bit steep, but honestly I now see why this product is the industry standard. This has opened us up to so many more possibilities. Thank you, ENTTEC!

Worthwhile feature that openDMX doesn't have

This is expensive, no doubt. I made an openDMX compatible USB interface for about $15. The problem I had was with flickering. So I bought a $40 DMX splitter/booster and still have problems. I reluctantly bought this but then found that there is a cool built in feature; as long as the usb is still powered up, whatever the last dmx data load was, it keeps sending the buffer so you can actually reboot your pc and the lights stay the same! I've had no problem with flicker as well so perhaps the problem was at the USB side and not the DMX, but because of the buffering that is no longer a problem. I've been using this for about 3 months, 3x a week and not one problem of flicker, so for me, it's been worth the cost for the stability.

Fast, reliable interface for many applications

ENTTEC DMX USB Pro 512-Ch USB DMX Interface works perfectly, and exactly as I would expect it to. I use it to run my band's light show through my MacBook Pro and Lightkey software with zero issues and zero lag. I can see this product working well in similar situations to handle lighting for a relatively smaller production like a band or theatre. My only concern, and why I gave only four stars for 'value for money', is the plastic case. I am terrified that I am going to one day step on, and crush to bits, this unit. I always take great care to keep the interface out of harm's way, however the plastic case feels not sturdy enough to protect the unit from being under full weight of an accidental footstep. Save for this concern, I would 100% recommend this interface.

Easy to use! Affordable for any creative with bright ideas!

The media could not be loaded. Super simple, basically plug n play with how easy the set up was!I’m running just 2 lights using the DMX Pro into my desktop running Ableton Live and the Emu software. Controlling the lights via the Emu VST in Ableton using automation to a demo track. Also absolutely affordable!

New version comes in flimsy case! Do not buy!

When this arrived I was SHOCKED. I'm programming a new lighting rig for a 2 month tour, and thought this device would be a perfect rugged road companion. Do not let the "PRO" labelling fool you - these are no longer built in the durable metal cases they used to. Instead the casing is cheap, fragile feeling plastic - even worse, it's not a rigid fit, so there's a .5" flap of plastic shooting off the back so thin even a child could pull it back and peel off the casing like a banana peal. If this fell off a table or was on a stage and got even lightly stepped on it would crack and break with ease. Good luck getting it to sit on a table, as it weighs all of 3 oz. If this were $50 it would be a great cheap option, at $160 it's theft. Luckily I was able to contact another seller who had the version with the metal case. Feel sad for ENTTEC who have sacrificed their legendary reputation for quality to save a few bucks in production. The amazon description still lists the casing as aluminum. This needs to be corrected.

It just works

I love these things- I have three of them now. I highly recommend them for any low budget theater application. (I can't recommend them for a high budget theater application only because I don't have experience with those.)I use them with QLab and I've never had an issue. They are solidly built, and easily drive the DMX line from the front of house throughout the theater. (Although TBH, I'm also a recent convert to using wireless DMX, which of course this also works with. To be clear, it doesn't include a wireless transmitter, but it works just fine with them.)Just in case anyone tries this weird thing that I tried: no, you cannot use the input on this to pass-through signals from another DMX controller. I wanted to have the old control board and this working seamlessly together, but apparently that is not supported.

Great little adapter

Enttec’s sample code on their website is a bit of a mess, but was able to figure out how to program it quickly enough. It’s disappointing that the software they make and the hardware to actually use it are sold separately, I had to test it with some other random third party software. But fortunately it works great and once you slug through their example code it’s not even that difficult to program

Extremely Cheap Plastic, yikes.

I was absolutely shocked at how cheap and gimmicky this feels. Thankfully saw reviews that the old version was metal, so spent some time and found that version to purchase. Returned this one.Extremely disappointed in Enttec.I am using this device on macOS with LightKey. It functioned right out of the box, despite having had difficulty with cheaper solutions in the past.
