Very interesting book - well-written
Very interesting book and provided insights I hadn't had. It's well-written and I was drawn into the story of these women who volunteered and were selected to serve as switchboard operators in France during World War I. An untold story of unsung heroes. So glad it was written and written so well and in such an engaging manner.

inspiring and Enjoyable
I very much enjoyed both the history and the personal stories in this book. A grammatical error (“undo” instead of “undue”) and a rather glaring historical error (reference to views of the Golden Gate Bridge in 1917; GGB was not built until the 30’s) early on put me on my guard for a while, but luckily most of the action occurs in settings I know nothing about so I was able to relax and just enjoy the story! I felt like the characters were true to the times in behavior and attitudes, and found them very engaging - not all cut from the same cloth. Good read if you like historical fiction!

Loved this historical fiction novel
I read this on my Kindle and loved it so much I ordered the paperback for my Mother-in-Law, who also loves to read historical fiction. One of the best things about this particular book, aside from the fact that it is based on historical events, is that many of the characters are people who experienced the events of the story, while others are based on a composite of real people from WWI. At the end, the author tells us what happened to the characters she could trace, which is always a treat to find out how lives actually turned out.
