The good: All the pieces were there
If there was an option to give 3.5 stars I would. The good:All the pieces were there. There were plenty of extra screws. Everything went together as it should have. The bad:Plan on setting aside a lot of time to put this thing together. A hefty task that is made even more difficult by the fact the instructions are poorly done. Some pictures are more clear than others as to what goes where. Over all they are poor but I did manage to successfully assemble the robot so they do get the job done. Lastly, they suggest using MG996R servos for the lower half joints. The ones I bought from Tower Pro are terrible. They do not center very well, are noisy, slow, and 2 out of the 17 I purchased lock up. I replaced them with Hitec HS-5645MG servos which happen to be 4 times as expensive but are light years better. After having put this thing together, the last thing I wanted to do was spend more time taking it apart to replace bad parts.

fun and petty B.A.
Really needs better instructions or really any at all but I treated it like a puzzle and got almost more enjoyment out of it.

Good universal kit
all parts accounted for and as specified. The finish is a bit rougher then I was expecting however that just makes them easier to screw together and have plastic components grip the metal frames. This is proving to be an advantage for low torque connections.

I ordered this kit thinking it's going to take 2 weeks to receive but turns out it was only a few days. The kit was packaged quite well and the pictorial instructions were easy to follow.Great product.

Assembbly Drawings/pix found for 17DOF Black Education Robot
Although, I just received this yesterday, two weeks ahead of schedule. I did need to contact Sain Smart for assembly directions: This link works and has pictures of parts in subassembly form. At least it helps.. now for all my servos to arriveThank you for your email. We are awfully sorry that we only have one assembly document for the item SainSmart 17DOF Biped Black Educational Robot Kit with Servo Bracket Ball Bearing. You are kindly suggested to download the documentation in the following link for reference.Amazon is deleting the link supplied by SainSmart for assembly"https://s3-ap-northeast-1.amazonaws.com/sain-amzn/20/20-011-111/20-011-111+Assembling+instruction.zip"[...]

Good quality but not all there
This is a fantastic kit to build a biped robot from, you do however need to provide not only 17 MG-996R servos but also the servo horns that this uses (metal round ones) are not usually included with the servo's so you need 17 of those too. These cost between a pound and £2.50 each so shop around, other kits include these for only about £10 more.To run 17 servo's you are going to need lipo batteries and a big UBEC. I used a Turnigy 2.2 20-30C 2200mah lipo with a Turnigy 6v 8A UBEC (with a peak 15A load) and it works nicely, each of these will cost about £15 to £20. A servo controller board and a bluetooth serial link will complete the line up, or us arduino nano's (which I prefer) and a servo driver - I recomment the adafruit 16 channel one, the other servo can be controlled directly by the ardiuno, its only for the head so isn't that important). Total build (not including controller) is about £180 which is by far the cheapest way to get a biped robot. However this is not for beginners, and should not be attempted as your first foray into either electronics or robot design. The instructions to put this together are nothing but a series of poor photographs, and do not give much away (in fact I found some photo's of it ready built on the web and they were far more useful). My built robot is awesome, and I am now just writing the software to control it. One of the best projects I have done so far.

Price OK but needs work
This kit arrives as per the picture but with NO instructions. The Product website is No use as it does not have instructions or even decent pics.It promised a tutorial if you created an account with them .. I did this only to find the Tutorial section empty..Gee thanks !!!After complaining I via Amazon I got some pictures showing different stages of assembly. These need interpretation to say the least but if you are thoughtful they are enough to build at least the legs which I've done so far.The Servo's require Hubs rather than horns and preferably metal ones since they will probably last longer. The screw fittings do actually fit the hub so I feel the previous reviewer may need to check this out.OK if you need a cheap model with reasonable parts ..no good unless you've done this stuff before or are some form of mind reader!!

What you see is what you get
No instructions if you wanted to build a biped !All drilled holes on every piece for servo horns do not mate with any horn I have seen.Waste of money
