Evita, First Lady: A Biography of EVA Peron

thought I had alredy done a review. no problems. book arrived with in time slot, perfect condition. well packed. the lady eva peron had an incredible life. reading it, it is easy to understand why Tim Rice was inspired to wite the words to Andrew Webbers music. certainly worth a read even you do not like the lady. can honestly recommend the seller.

Paid next to nothing for this book so was not surprised with it's condition. Nothing more to say about it!!

Detailed biography. Enjoyable read.

I have read three biographies of Eva and this was certainly the clearest and most balanced account, though it is not a detailed or exhaustive coverage of her life, ideas and policies. There is no attempt to brush over the serious failings of her husband’s regime but at the same time the transformation she wrought in the life of the poor is very evident. If only she had not ruined the economy she might have achieved something truly lasting; as it was the author gives her credit for that which she did achieve – giving the downtrodden hope of something better for the first time. The original edition has an Epilogue in which the Perons are compared favourably with the military governments that followed – Eva was certainly ruthless and at times vindictive but if the author is to be believed repression in her day was far less brutal than it later became.

This books describes the life of Eva Duarte and the effect that she had on Argentina very well. The only concern about this book is that it is now somewhat dated and doesn't seek to present the picture of Evita in modern-day Argentina.
