I adored this story. Ink is a wonderful dystopian story that is set in a place where the ink on your skin and you ability to be remembered through them acts as this societies religion. I loved how Broadway weaved in the cultures fairy tales and how they have shaped the town. I did enjoy reading through Leora's eyes. The relationship with the markers and the marks was beautiful and enveloping. What really gave this book such a high rating was how unpredictable it became. I did not see what was coming and I was so surprised but it, yet it was completely in character which is so incredible hard to achieve and was so well written. I had just read a few mystery/thrillers so being so shocked was wonderful!!!I also ADORED the relationship between Leora and her best friend. Loved that they stood by each other as friends should. However her other relationships fell flat for me and I wish we could have gotten a little more character development with everyone else.I think my biggest complaint was the blanks, or the concept of them. Without spoiling, I could not back their motivations to stay blank. I thought it was a medical or physical reason that they were blank but they simply just do not want a tattoo. While I appreciate the passion for the option for choice, this was such a weak driver of two rivaling "races" so to speak. Not getting a tattoo on your body. There was SO MUCH left unanswered and open for me which is a huge turn off. Especially with no news or release for a second book. But I did REALLY enjoy the concept and the main characters. I am looking forward to see where this goes.

fascinating concept - your life decisions tattooed onto your skin!
fascinating concept - your life decisions tattooed onto your skin! This story was great both on the level that it kept me completely entertained, and it also brought up so many interesting issues about social ideas and the way people are remembered. There's interesting ideas about how religious/social leaders can control a whole people by what they let be known.A great read, both for pure enjoyment, and for the deep issues it raises.

READ THIS BOOK!!
I love this story! What a fascinating new world. A wonderful take on how our stories shape our lives, and how hidden stories can tear families apart. Also, more then little political resistance thrown in for fun!

Hmm
Whoa. Got this book because a friend knew the author. Took a while to get into it. Was afraid it would be a trilogy (maybe there will be sequels?) But love the ending as is. Spooky and allegorical and cool.
