SearchPress Draw Manga: Complete Skills (Video Book Guides)

I have bought many, many manga drawing books from amazon, and this is my first ever review! I researched thebook online, but couldn't find any customer reviews, so hope this will be helpful to others considering taking the plunge and buying this book.My first thoughts were what a bargain it is for the price! This is a good-sized book with many many beautiful pages full of colour illustrations and lots of helpful text to accompany them. Many of my drawing books contain few words and black-and-white pictures, so the abundance of colour and text in this book was a welcome surprise!As far as the content goes, it is not much different from many of the mange how-to books available. A problem I have with many of these is that they all try to cover everything from the basics to creating publishable manga, which to me feels too much for the beginner, and this book is the same. I have yet to read through all of the content but it does look useful, although personally I would have preferred this book to focus on just perfecting the basics and character construction.The video tutorials are great in my opinion and compliment the book well. If, like me, it really helps you to see how things are done (rather than just read instructions), you'll find them very helpful. I can also recommend Mark Crilley, his tutorials are inspiring!For the price you can't go wrong, this is a beautiful book to add to your collection, and with the wealth of text and extra tips in the videos, you're sure to learn something! I really like Sonia, she is down-to-earth and encouraging, a true inspiration. I hope she will write more books in the future, perhaps focusing on one of the areas covered here :)

Last year, I bought this resourceful book as a treat for myself on my birthday and only now did I feel the need to write a review on it. I haven't exactly followed through any of the step-by-steps, however just by skimming through the book I can tell it's rich with a variety of content, that includes beginner friendly sketches or colouring in. I am a practicing artist and this book is ideal for beginner to intermediate levels. I would totally recommend this book if you're thinking about investing on a drawing tablet or already own one to create your own characters with. I like how this book is a complementing mix of both traditional and contemporary drawing styles of anime. So, if you're the type of person who isn't really into the digital stuff, then just dust of your sketchbook and get to it!

Book was as described but was not so pleased with the package it came in as a corner of the book was slightly bent.

Amazing product! teaches you everything you need to know, even after years of drawing manga i still found this incredibly useful and helped me a lot with the parts I find tricky. Helps with a huge range of differnt things like classic body types and heads, as well as clothe folds and drapes, it also explains how many differnt factors come into play when creating or showing a charecter. Would definitely recommend!

This is an essential resource for artists everywhere. The book covers various mediums and styles, as well as anatomy, clothing, writing manga and rendering. There are also QR codes/ youtube links so that you can watch the videos for each tutorial online and get a sense of her working process. A very good resource.

Book was great but slightly damaged on the corner

The book is really great and I love it! It's perfect for starter manga drawers. You can learn even how to sell your own manga or how to use drawing programs on the computer.

This is a wonderful resource for developing your technique. So glad I added it to my collection.

This book is absolutely amazing. I started reading the first chapter and it this book goes into great detail on how to draw manga. It always displays many different ways on how things can be drawn and gives perfect guidelines on how things should look until you perfect the basics. Unlike other books I have bought it show how to render your manga digitally. I would say this is a must buy to anyone who is wanting to learn how to draw every section is like a building block for the next. I am so glad I bought it.
