Great, reasonably priced, solar camera!
The media could not be loaded. I am reviewing the SV3C Solar PTZ Camera Outdoor, 2K 3MP Wireless WiFi Battery Security Cam (model C17) found here...https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGKD69FH?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsThis is a great security camera to use anywhere outside you need coverage, but don't have power. I mounted mine on a tree to cover the back and side of the house. Installation was easy and the camera operates as expected. The camera housing is plastic, but appears sturdy enough and has a waterproof rating of IP65.That being said, this camera is not exactly rich in features. There is no optical zoom or presets. It's strictly a pan & tilt camera. It does have a built in mic and speaker and you are able to hold a conversation with someone standing near the camera. It does have humanoid motion detection and you can set it for daytime only, nighttime only, both day and night or neither. This camera does not have smart tracking. In other words, when motion is detected, the camera stays put. It will not move (or track) with the object that set off the motion detection. Night vision works well and illuminates quite a large area. It also has a very bright flood light that will come on when human motion is detected at night. I was impressed with the image quality and the range of the wifi. The camera is mounted approximately 75 feet from my router inside the house. The camera can only be operated using either the SV3C Cloud app or the CloudEdge app. Both apps appear to be identical, with the only difference being the name of the app. If you have an Amazon Echo Show, (I don't), it apparently will work with that. For storage, the camera has an SD card slot you can use by buying your own SD card or you can subscribe to the video cloud storage service from within the app. There is a free 7 day trial to this service, and I have no idea how much it costs. I haven't tried this service and probably won't. I'm not fond of cloud storage for anything. You cannot set this camera to record 24/7. You can only set the recording time to 10, 20, or 30 seconds once motion is detected. For advanced users... this camera is *not* ONVIF compliant. This is the only SV3C camera I own that isn't ONVIF compliant. It can only be operated via the app. You cannot connect directly to the camera or configure it via IP.For what it is, this is a great, reasonably priced, camera to use for those areas without power. SV3C continues to impress me.

Great Battery Life and Basic Functionality
Overall this is a nice little camera that is easy to install, with great battery life, functional solar charging, useful pan/tilt functionality, and good video quality.Initial setup before mounting was very painless, with the process of adding the camera to the Cloudedge software completing without issue. Spent a couple days playing with the camera before mounting it and was impressed by the battery life. After the initial charge, I unplugged the unit to test battery operation and ultimately left it unplugged for a few days while I waited for an opportunity to mount it. I was quite surprised after a couple days that it was still running with over a 50% charge.Mounting was very simple for both the camera and the associated solar panel. Angle adjustments for the solar panel were a bit tricky, requiring a couple of tries to get the adjustments right. This is probably an area that could use improvement, but still only took a few minutes to get right.Once mounted, I was quite happy with the image quality, night vision, and ability to pan/tilt. Although you can "zoom" in on the image, this seems to be a purely digital zoom; some level of optical zoom would have been nice on a PTZ camera, but that would likely require a price bump as well.Motion detection appears to work well, with the typical sensitivity level adjustments available. I tested this with the Cloud recording functionality and again the feature worked well. The notifications/alerts provided by the software is where issues with the software start to show. I was disappointed that notifications did not include a preview image of the detected motion. Also, I often received multiple notifications, the actual motion alert itself and then a "tip" notification advising that I had received a notification message. This is likely a configuration setting, though I was unable to figure it out and the dual notifications were a bit of an annoyance.Another issue with the software is the inability to login on multiple devices. When I attempted to get my wife setup with the camera, I quickly realized that signing her in signed me out. The solution was to set up her own account and share my "home" with her account. Thankfully this worked well and I was relieved to see that she was even receiving device notifications, a limitation I have seen in other apps that require devices be shared among multiple accounts. Despite the sharing functionality working well, it is still frustrating to be limited to a single device for a login. Typically I set up camera software on our tablets as well, however I did not bother with this as it just wasn't worth having to set up and maintain a third and fourth account. Hopefully this limitation is removed in a future release.

Sehr gute Kamera

Impressive remote camera
The idea of a remote camera to cover the back of our property and external building has always been appealing, but I couldn't face the faff of having to wire power for a camera, and only the wired ones seemed to have the panning / tilting and local recording features that I wanted. While looking at options I came across the SV3C Cloud camera, which appeared to have all the functionality I wanted and was solar powered - but was it too good to be true? The reviews appeared mostly positive, though a few questioned battery life, it seemed worth a go for the price.I've had the camera a couple of weeks now and first impressions are very good.Install - I had slight issue connecting the camera to 2.4Ghz broadband , but there are a couple of options and the second worked perfectly. We have a pretty strong signal, so no issues there. Note - it doesn't support 5GHz - but as that has less range I guess it's understandable. I fully charged the camera before setting it up, it only took a couple of hours - so either shipped with charge or not a huge battery.Putting up the camera and solar panels was easy - so long as you can drill a hole or put in a screw, helpful templates ensure hole/screw location is perfect. There is a pretty long cable between solar panel and camera, so they can be installed to give best field of view and still align panel for best view of the sun.Once up the app was pretty easy to use and gives access to a live stream after c 3-4 seconds to set up a secure link, picture quality in both day and night modes is good, with night vision automatically switching to colour when there is sufficient light - e.g. when a security light come on.So far the PIR set up and sensitivity is fine and works consistently, alerting me to a movement - to date only our large dog and humans have created alerts, squirrels and cats don't seem to affect it - so few false alerts for us.The customisation of setting is good, allowing sensitivity and clip length to be adjusted.I like the ability to pan and tilt the camera in live stream mode - note it doesn't 'track' automatically - but you could alter the area of focus if reqd. The camera gives the option of cloud storage - but we used an old micro SD card in the camera - this can be accessed remotely to view historic clips. Any live streamed images can be recorded on your phone or tablet. So, from a camera perspective it does all I wanted very well...but what about the battery? Well Scotland in February is not renowned for sunlight and there was a lot of drain with alerts as I put the camera up and played withe settings, so after a couple of days the battery was down to 88% - not too bad, but would have indicated needing to recharge evey couple of weeks... however now that usage has stabilised to a few activations a day I found that the solar panel has more than enough power to recharge the camera and it is now back at 100%.So my hope of endless use without recharging might be achieved! It's early days but we've had one particularly wet and windy night without issue and build quality appears pretty solid - so looking good so far, and for the price I think great value.Update July 2023 - After c 4 months the battery still reads 100%, even with numerous activations per day, so I'd say that a well located and aligned solar panel gives limitless power. I had to reconnect the camera to wi-fi once when we had a power cut, otherwise really impressed.

Excellent Solar charging WiFi camera
I have bought quite a few of the cameras from SV3C and have found them all to be easy to use and straight forward to set up. I have my property monitored by IP cameras most of them are hard wired and connected to monitoring software. This is the first wireless camera I have purchased and was interested in the solar charging panel. The camera arrived in super quick time and was well packaged. It certainly looked good out of the box and felt well-constructed. Set up was a bit different to what I’ve been used to but was straight forward and the instructions easy to follow. Once the camera had been fully charged, you have to download the app and configure everything through that.I found the app. good with all the functions set out well. I put the SD card in which I already had and we were up and running. I’ve played with the app. quite a bit and everything seems to work well. There is a facility to use cloud storage but it’s something I wouldn’t use.I have included a couple of screenshots to show the resolution of the camera which is very good. You can have colour video at night; it’s got a small but powerful light built in along with an alarm siren which will be useful for a lot of people. If not the night vision is very good. The camera will send alerts if you want them to the app on your phone and you can monitor everything from there. The camera can be rotated from the app screen and you have the two way audio which is very good. I haven’t stopped playing with this camera since it arrived and I'm very happy with it so far.I would have liked a RJ45 wired connection but to be fair the signal on WIFI is really strong and I’ve moved it around the house a few times.I’m happy with this model of camera from SV3C.If I have needed to ask support for help in the past with my other cameras they have been easy to deal with and been speedy in their response.
