Great introduction before visiting Venice
I read this book a few weeks before my departure to Venice and it was very helpful in planning my trip. It contains all the things to see and do in Venice to suit your style of adventure. I liked especially the advice to just 'get lost' in the city. There really is no way to really lose your way and you will find wonderful sights away from the touristy areas. My personal advice go to the Guggenheim art museum you will be amazed at the wonderful paintings and you will be right on the Grand Canal!

If you enjoy the show, definitely buy the books!
These books are a must when traveling in Italy. Instead of buying the larger Italy book, we bought the books on Florence & Tuscany, Rome, Venice, and Naples & the Amalfi Coast because I only wanted to carry the cities I needed during our two-week Italy adventure.I highly recommend the paper copy over the electronic version. We accidentally left our Florence and Tuscany book on the plane so I downloaded the electronic version to my Kindle. It was much easier to use the maps in the book to orientate ourselves.Ricks' books are full of useful information, "traveling like a local" tips, and historical insights. We coupled the books with his free App and audio guides and got so much more out of our trip than if we had winged it and only used advice from the hotels and travel agencies. Our biggest regret was not getting the books before we booked our trip. We definitely would have saved money and visited more sights if we had read them before booking.

Best Travel Guide for nuts and bolts of HOW to do it!
Superb! As ever, Rick Steve's tells you not only WHAT to see but HOW to see it. For example, in this guide to Venice, he tells you where and how to get a gondola ride, what you should expect from it, what it will cost, and so forth. A few more photos would be appreciated, but Rick Steves is absolutely essential for the actual nuts and bolts of travel.

Book is ok, 3 days in Venice is enough
We used the suggested water taxi from the airport. Alilaguna. Extremely rude, short, combative. Nearly ruined our first ever trip to Venice. We used an AirBnB and wandered everywhere. Rick was right, just get lost, you will anyway, and all the signs will point you back to the tourist shops and you can reorient to get back to your room. We couldn't get in to many of the sites listed as there were SO Many guided groups, but he mentions a few out of the way cafes and sites that were pretty good. All in all ok, but we left it at the AirBnB for the next people.

Excellent resource for a trip to Venice
Excellent resource for a trip to Venice. Accurate and helpful. Size is small enough that can easily pack in a purse or backpack. Pulled out often as a reference during my trip.
