Classic
A new version called Operation Mincemeat has recently been released but not seen it yet if it’s half as good as this version then I’ll be happy

A True WW2 Story.
A terrific 1956 film of a true life story about Op Mincemeat a cunning and audacious British Military Intelligence plan to fool the Germans in WW2 into thinking the invasion of Sicily was to take place elsewhere. Blu-ray has decent picture quality, good colours and contrast along with some grain to keep detail intact and film like and not processed with loads of DNR. (digital noise reduction which smooths the picture out and can make it look waxy if used too much) A lot of viewers like this look unfortunately so when a classic film comes along and is put on Blu-ray it makes a refreshing change that it hasn’t been slathered in DNR. This definitely hasn’t been. Surprisingly good and very watchable. Sound is allegedly the original 2.0 (stereo) soundtrack in LCPM format and enjoyable. Extras consist of the trailer and a stills gallery, nothing else. No subtitles unfortunately.Recently remade and shown at the cinema as Op Mincemeat starring Colin Firth, Kelly Macdonald, Penelope Wilson, Matthew Macfadyen and Jason Issacs. Also on dvd and Blu-Ray. I saw that first then The Man Who Never Was. I suppose it will just come down to which version you prefer as there are a few differences between the two films but both equally as good. I liked them in equal measure.Good price for a good film. If you like the WW2 genre you should enjoy this. Great for fans now it’s on Blu-ray.
