Family, health and friendships
Wow, Philippa Ashley has certainly written a marvellous novel. In my eyes, this is by far her best. Never have I wanted to go and visit a destination as Philippas descriptive writing of an idyllic island has made me desperate to visit. Even when the weather is bad, she has made it sound beautiful.Lily Harper runs her own company. After the devastating death of her sister, she just works and stops seeing friends and family. That us until she is forced, by her loyal employee, to take a holiday, after passing out. He books her into a retreat on the beautiful Scilly Isles. After arriving in terrible weather, she insists she wants to go home. Thank goodness she changes her mind.Lily had a life changing disaster and makes her realise that she needs to delegate her workload. The characterisation was marvellous. Totally believable. There is humour also some captivating moments. I didn’t want to finish it.This is an exceptional novel to take on holiday or read it at home. You will not want to put it down until you have finished reading it.Thank you Philippa Ashley for being such an amazing author,. I cannot wait for your Christmas novel.

Absolute Page Turner
Lying on my sunbed I wondered what I should read next on my kindle. Choosing Second Chance Summer was definitely the right decision. I fell in love with this book from the first page - not the usual start to a book - and have read it in a day. This is so unusual for me - I’m normally a slow reader. The characters, the setting, the humour and emotions evoked… I loved it and now want to visit the Isles of Scilly. Fabulous read!

A Lovely Book
I really thought I had read this book before, it seemed so familiar, but it must have been something else as it was only published in June. Lily Harper has been working too hard as well as trying to come to terms with her beloved sister dying so her personal assistant books her a holiday on the beautiful Isles of Scilly, but when Lily arrives she is not impressed. The complex she is due to stay at is not finished and she is the only guest. The weather is terrible and with no wifi access she doesn't think she can cope and wants to return home but it is too late to start back that day. Lily decides to stay for the moment and soon becomes immersed in island life helped no doubt by Sam, owner of the holiday retreat but can they make it work with Lily's business being a long distance away? This is a lovely book which I thoroughly enjoyed.
