Bone Saddle – Fits Some Pre-2016 Taylor® Guitars – Forward Line B Compensation – 9 mm Height – Unbleached

I purchased this for my 2001 Taylor 814CE to replace the stock Tusq saddle. The quality is excellent and the tonal change was exactly what I was looking for! The intonation after installing is absolutely perfect without any adjustments needed. This is as close to a drop-in replacement as you can get.Fit/finish: The MacNichol saddle was a perfect fit for length, needed only very slight adjustment for width, and needed to be adjusted for height as was expected. The bone seems to be very high quality and quite consistent throughout. There were very slight cnc tooling marks that I may decide to buff out later. The included 100 grit sandpaper was sufficient for reducing the height, but I chose 220 grit for a smoother finish and finer adjustments.Tone/playability: the radius of this saddle is perfectly matched to the fretboard (unlike the stock Tusq saddle) which slightly, but noticeably, improved the playability of this guitar. The biggest change, however, was in tone with tamed highs/brightness. It essentially reduced some of the Taylor-ness of this guitar which was a welcomed improvement for me. I could see how others may not prefer this change, but this particular guitar was always a bit harsh/thin sounding for my taste. The reduced brightness shifts the overall tone to more rich/full mids and lows while remaining exceptionally clear and articulate. Again, the tamed highs might not be a goal everyone wants in a Taylor, but for me it’s a huge improvement!

Too thick for my Taylor 414-CE. Will require sanding to fit. Also, height will require a lot of sanding.

Replaced the lousy plastic bridge in my Taylor 414-ce with this. Was exactly as advertised and now my guitar is louder and has more clarity.

I bought this saddle to lower the action on my baby Taylor. Great quality, had all the features of the factory saddle.

Worked well.
