Impportantly, the end loops are just large enough to pass another loop and pass its ferrule through. This makes these cables extendable. At 3mm, if someone comes along with bolt cutters, they'll obviously get your luggage, but they're plenty strong enough to otherwise frustrate typical luggage thiefs.

I bought these cables specifically to add extra security to stored pelicans on my rooftop basket during a cross country trip. I wound up hitting those Midwest storms back in late April. While not used for the purpose of latching my boxes down, they did handle a little more stress than I had intended them to and did it without incident. Despite the rain and humidity, no rust was noted after two weeks nor did I see any form of bird caging or fraying. They seem thin but performed well.

I got this for a trip where I will be staying in hostels, to secure my luggage to a post or something similar when there are no storage lockers available. I put this through my luggage's handle, wrapped it around the frame of the bed, and then locked the ends together using a little travel lock. It definitely worked for this, but given how thin the cable is I wouldn't rely on it for anything more than deterrence. It will keep someone from outright walking away with your bag, but if they have scissors and enough motivation it would probably just take a couple minutes to cut through it. This means the cable is very light which is nice, but you just have to keep in mind that it's not super secure.

I was afraid to leave luggage in my trunk for obvious reasons. All I did was tied those suckers to the frame of my back seat with this and a lock, and I was set. It was nice and long so I was able to tie everything up.

We will be using this on train travel in Europe so the jury is still out on it’s effectiveness

they arrived complete far easier than me trying to make them up and they are ideal for securing valuables not to get stolen , sure they can be cut but then the thief is seriously wanting your kit and you should have bought something more substantial
