This is a very simple, basic thermometer. I ordered it because the Exergen forehead thermometer I have was not doing its job. The kids' heads were clearly warm (they had this awful flu going around right now), but their temperature was showing below normal. They were both in the neighborhood of 102 degrees F at the doctor's office. So, given that they have the flu, and I want them to be without fever before returning, I decided on a new thermometer. I liked that this one would measure forehead and ear, since I am currently having problems with the forehead thermometer from Exergen. So it arrived, and I also have a cheap oral thermometer, which I don't like because of the ease with which it will transfer germs from one mouth to another. But, I did some testing, and this thing is very accurate, the ear and forehead readings are within 0.2 degrees F of each other and within the same amount to the oral thermometer. Much better than the other forehead thermometer I have been using. So, it works like it should, very fast and accurate.

I bought this because I didn't want to deal with a) a regular thermometer and b) waiting until it got really bad to decide to go to the doctor and find out I have a fever. I believe it works, but it's kind of weird. I definitely had a fever this past weekend - chills, aches, the pounding of a thousand tiny gnomes in my skull - but this thermometer gave me three different temperatures at each spot on my head that I tried it. Apparently my left temple is consistently hotter than my right, and the forehead is variable. All three readings showed elevated temperature, so that much at least was right, but maybe I was using it wrong somehow. Seems pretty straightforward to hold to head and press a button. It works well enough so I'll keep using it but I'll probably keep testing all three spots on my head every time.Update to my review: The seller contacted me quickly and gave me a refund, which I used to buy another. It seems likely I had received a defective one. At any rate they were very courteous about the whole thing.

Worst purchase I have ever made on Amazon. I didn't use it until the return window was up, or it would be going back. It is COMPLETELY INCONSISTENT. Does not work on ear or forehead. I thought I could save some money on a generic version of a thermometer, but I can promise you, the well-reviewed name brands are likely more worth your investment than this piece of junk. Checking on myself and my kid, the temperatures ranged 5-6 degrees randomly. We followed instructions and still variance was HUGE. You can't trust it to do its very basic job.

This is SUPER easy to use...literally just push the button. The LED screen lights up.It's already set up for forehead scanning...and to do the ear (which I personally think is a little more precise) all you do is give the top a little twist and it comes right off. Comes with a plush little bag for storage. I wish they had these when my kids were little.The best thing? No little covers are needed for the ear piece.Great thermometer. Seems to work spot on.

We could never get a single accurate reading on myself, my husband, or the baby using either the forehead or ear. This thing is awful. We finally got rid of it and bought a Braun when we thought the baby was sick but couldn't be sure he had a fever. He did (doctor confirmed)! But only the Braun thermometer told us, this one said his temperature was normal. We have since used the Braun several times and get much more reasonable and believable readings every time.

This is the perfect thermometer for a sick child or for me. I don't want to mess with waiting for a thermometer to register when I'm not feeling well. It's great to not have any concern for a child about under arm accuracy or holding in mouth and not biting into mercury's poison. This is instant and inobtrusive. I love the versatility of forehead or ear reading. Quick, easy, convenient and how it should have always been!

No home thermometer is quite as accurate as we want it to be. We do notice a different number when using the forehead vs the ear but overall it's better than any we have had previously so we are happy with what we got for the price. Someday we hope to have Dr office quality choices but this one comes the closest we have found.

Forehead thermometers are so much easier to use. While yes, they are not as accurate, 99.99% of the time, they're adequate. If your kid has a fever, the 0.2 degrees isn't going to make a difference. As a medical student and a new dad, I find this thing is a great way to ease your mind when you get the random jitters thinking your kid might be a bit warm. Works great, easy to read.
