An excellent value package
To be honest, the price seemed too good to be true. I never played any of the games when they originally came out, but discovered their existence when looking for a WW2 strategy game to put on my laptop. This pack includes the first game, all its expansions, and the second game, and all its expansions! That gives you roughly 8 campaigns for Blitzkrieg 1 and 7 campaigns for Blitzkrieg 2. (I have not played the multiplayer and do not intend to do so, this review will focus on the single player portion of the games)I have only played a few hours of each game, but both are very different.Blitzkrieg 1 is my favourite, the graphics are isometric and almost look like a painting. The gameplay is brutally realistic for the most part, however, I would prefer if units could see slightly further.I've never been the best at strategy games and I have to put it on the easiest difficulty, but even then it's a fun challenge. Even when on the defensive, the AI will counterattack ruthlessly and exploit any weaknesses in your positioning. Your supplies and units are limited and the mission can be thrown away within seconds by blundering into an unscouted area. While this might prove frustrating for some, I find the 'just one more go' aspect very addictive - and the levels are more like puzzles than action strategy. The loads are also lightning fast, and the performance is fantastic, as you would expect from a game released in 2005!Blitzkrieg 2 on the other hand makes an effort to be faster-paced, but loses some of the charm of the original. The music is great, but the sound effects can get overly loud and repetitive. Some of the visual effects are nice, but the relative size and movement animations of the soldiers seem less realistic. The amount of destruction, while technically impressive, seems overdone. There are other annoyances such as the UI, which appears intrusive and cluttered compared to Blitzkrieg 1's UI, which has aged somewhat more gracefully. Artillery also seems less important, but I'm not far into the game so that may appear later. BK2 also introduces the reinforcements system. This makes the game far more forgiving, but seems wasteful and unrealistic in historical context.Neither game is bad in my opinion and it will come down to whichever you prefer. That's the beauty of this pack, and just to remind you, you get BOTH games for a price currently less than £4.Note: The expansions do not have their own shortcuts automatically created on the desktop on install. You have to go into the program files, find the applications, and right click to manually create your own. Also, I can't find a way to delete my Blitzkrieg 1 saves, I can't even find the files themselves.Otherwise I have experienced no technical or performance issues. If you're thinking about getting this game, all I can say is: why not? If you've been fancying a chunk of WW2 strategy then you can't go wrong at this price. If the price rises significantly or you are worried about getting the CD to run, the games are also available for download on GOG or Steam. In conclusion: Highly recommended.

the opposing force is vastly superior in numbers
The game is just unrealistically hard even at low difficulty settings. The AI has unrealistic knowledge of your positions, the opposing force is vastly superior in numbers, and covert recce is always spotted and destroyed before identifying enemy forces.. Reinforcements are limited so that inevitable casualties mean most games die through lack of resources. And doing well in the game becomes tedious, because it becomes, either a matter of just pounding potential enemy occupied squares, with artilllery, or using bombers to do the same, until they inevitably are destroyed, by AA or fighters.A shame, because if they sorted out their ai details, and improved the ability to magnify what you are looking at, it could be a good game. As it is, its a case of looking at tiny units, and just pounding away for hours with long ranged firepower.

Blitz-fun
Very good 'shoot-up' with a little strategy needed.A vast difference in playing modes from the first game to the latest version though, with altered controls which became a little annoying at first.

Game not as I expected it
Rather disappointed because I have to play the game in Windows7 and it seems reluctant to play properly in some of the games.I probably haven't got the system set-up properly.Arthur Tickner

First is the best
It's ok, but the first Blitzkrieg is by far the best. The ambience is much more exciting and realistic. In the sequels it's more like a cartoon.

Makes battlefield strategy realistic.
I have been playing the Blitzkrieg war games for 10 years now. I have all the games that are associated with this series. I love the older ones best because the games that spun off after Blitzkrieg 2 seem more antimated and automatic in their action. The early ones may seem crude graphicly but they are easier to manipulate and setting up tactics on a small scale is so fun (ambushes & etc.)this will give anyone hours of fun. It's not a first person shoot'em up but a whole battlefield situation in which you are the General.

very very good
blitzkrieg is long better that blitzkrieg 2.Es el mejor juego de este genero sobre la 2º guerra mundial pero en la versión blitzkrieg 2 pierde mucho realismo y control del juego.
