Good Picture and Sound not easy to use though
The sound is good and the picture is good on the DVD's. The User Manual is difficult and confusing and the diagram of the machine buttons is so small I have to use a magnifier. You have to read the manual about 3 times to understand the relationship between the machine and the remote. I still do not know if OK on the machine is the same control as enter on the remote because there is no OK button on the remote. On the machine, you cannot see the controls on the left round button because they are not in white like the other buttons are.The fact that you have to set the aspect ratio and the subtitles each time you use a disc is a negative. But so far we have figured out how to go back and forward and to stop the disc where it was which is now easy. We will be using the device mostly for DVD's but we will eventually try some usb's and SD cards.

IRRITATING PROBLEMS
THE DISPLAY WAS EXCELLENT AND THE SOUND OVER SONY HEAD PHONES WAS ALSO. I NEVER USED THE UNIT WITHOUT HEADPHONES SO I CAN'T COMMENT ON SPEAKER OR VOLUMN QUALITY. THE UNIT HAS OCCASIONALLY RETURNED TO THE STOPPING POINT WHEN WATCHING A DVD, BUT MOST OF THE TIME WHEN STOPPED AND RESTARTED IT RETURNS TO THE BEGINNING OF THE DVD OR THE START OF THE EPISODE I WAS WATCHING WHEN I STOPPED IT, NOT WHERE I STOPPED IT. THE UNIT DOES NOT REMEMBER SUBTITLE SETTINGS OR ASPECT RATIO WHEN YOU ENTER A NEW DISC OR TURN THE UNIT OFF. IT HAS ALSO STOPPED PLAYING SEVERAL DISCS AND RETURNED TO THE SCREEN MENU WITH AN ARCING OR SNAPPING NOISE HEARD OVER THE HEAD SETS, YET WHEN YOU RESTART THE DISC AND FAST FORWARD TO THE PLACE WHERE THIS HAPPENED, THE UNIT PLAYS WITH NO PROBLEMS. I HAVE ALSO PLAYED THE DISC'S THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED ON, ON A OPPO PLAYER AT HOME WITH NO PROBLEMS, SO IT WAS NOT A DISC PROBLEM. THE VOICES OUT OF SYNC PROPLEM CAN BE RESYNCED BY PAUSING THE DVD FOR A FEW SECONDS AND PRESSING PLAY AGAIN. AND THE UNIT WILL BE IN SYNC AGAIN. I COULD UNDERSTAND THESE PROBLEMS ON A $50 UNIT, BUT NOT ONE THAT COSTS $166, I AM IN THE PROCESS OF RETURNING THE PLAYER. IT"S AN OK UNIT IF YOU DON"T MIND THE ABOVE PROBLEMS, IF YOU DO MIND RESETTING THE MENUS ALL THE TIME, AND ITS POOR PERFORMANCE IN REMEMBERING WHERE TO RESTART A DVD, OR RESYNCING THE VOICES, THEN LOOK ELSE WHERE. ALSO THE MANUAL COULD USE IMPROVEMENT WITH BETTER EXPLANATIONS OF WHAT OR HOW TO DO SOMETHING, THE NUMEROUS BUTTONS ON THE BASE OF THE UNIT ARE NEVER EXPLAINED, OBVIOUSLY SOME NEED NO EXPLANATION, BUIT OTHERS DO.
