OK, but don't expect the same as used by professional physical therapy clinic.
OK, but don't expect the same as used by professional physical therapy clinic.First Impressions is that it will be OK and get the job done. I mostly purchased this for the hand exercise to gently exercise my back. I think it will do fine to work the kinks out. But you can really tell the difference (of course) between this and $5000 therapy bike.PACKAGING:If anything it was overly packaged, but that is OK, nothing was broken or bent as others have expressed. The packing was sloppy but efficient. So it was not pretty to unpack, tape everywhere, but no big deal. Once you open it up, you would have to be a magician to try to repack it to return it, so give up on that idea, of "trying it out" and returning it.ASSEMBLY:Not too hard (with an occasional helper to hold a part) about 45 minutes. I only used the included tools. The instructions are only pictures, but they help to give you a general idea of how to assemble the unit. I would say you should be at least moderately mechanically inclined to figure it all out. For example "R" means put this part on the right side and so on. No clear labeling on the electrical wires, but they are keyed so it is OK, and the left/right cables for the heart rate monitor don't matter which side they are on to work. The cables were plenty long enough.QUALITY:Definately home quality. I would guess that that would fall apart in a few weeks in a gym under constant 24 hour/day use. For the 15 minutes a day I plan to use it, I assume it will be fine.FEATURES:Adjustable tension manually on both the lower and upper units.Chair is adjustable for both height and closenessHand Peddles are adjustableThe HEIGHT of the overall hand crank unit is not adjustable (I find it a little too low to use while standing I am 5'8")The Digital Readout is hard to understand (one button for all features), but since it is not attached to the hand crank I won't use it anyway.USAGE:It is quiet, no squeaks or rattles, just my shoe laces hitting the wheel is pretty much the only sound. The resistance is relatively weak on both the lower and upper units, so don't expect a heavy strength based workout, more for motion than resistance use.I find the "throw" on the hand crank to be too small even fully extended. I would like longer handles and perhaps some handgrips for a wider stance. Again, it will work just to get my back moving. I might see if I can get some bike handlebar extensions to mount somehow. The natural position on this unit is with your hands parallel to the ground, instead of perpendicular to the ground. There are some side plastic "knobs" on the end of each handle that you could probably hold onto but they feel very flimsy, and I would assume they would quickly break off if you used them instead of the metal grip.REVERSE: While you can spin the upper and lower units in reverse, the upper unit "slips" when going in reverse on every rotation, so it is not a smooth workout in reverse.SEAT ADJUSTMENT: One minor note if you have a multi-user household the seat adjustments will probably cause minor arguments. There are 2 knobs that really can't be used while you are sitting down. So you have to adjust it before you get in. I could see my wife and I grumbling that the seat was left in the wrong position by the other person. The height is "pin" system in the back of the unit. While the forward movement is a knob under the seat and it is only tension based (no click). But you really must tighten it down hard if you want to avoid seat movement. That is about it. It is about what I expected. But not as good as I hoped for. But I did not want to spend $5000 on a commercial machine. So it will do until I find the next level up units ($1000) used on craigslist.

Good bike thats inexpensive!
I bought this exercise bike to help recover my leg and arm strength after a major spinal cord injury. In that respect it has helped immensely with therapy its very easy on the the 1st of 7 strength settings and gives you a run for your money on the tougher setting, with that in mind there is a good range of difficulty. Note however the arm bike is not connected to the digital readout or the leg difficulty so it is very much an isolated part of the bike and has its own difficulty knob. The seat is firm enough that you don't sink in but no where near hard enough to make your bottom hurt (I've been on this for 30 minutes at a time and only when I go for longer do I start to notice a very small ache, however that's more likely due to my spines over sensitivity than the seat). The seat adjustment knobs are a bit fiddly and if you don't have much arm strength you may need assistance to get them set in the first place but once there they stick pretty well (horizontal movement is just a screw knob so It can move if not tight enough but the vertical height is secured with a pin lock and screwknob. There rotation of the wheel is very good I don't feel wobbly when riding it but a complaint I have is the petals are meant for smaller feet I have a 12.5 US foot and I have the the foot straps set to the max length and my feet don't fit completely on the petal but it's not uncomfortable, it just makes me have to use my ankles a bit more. The digital readout uses AA batteries to power itself and unless you're a hobbyist electrician there is no way to have it run on any other power source. The heart pulse reader is basic at best and honestly I don't use it a whole lot but the timer works and that's mostly what I care about. Don't expect much from the digital display. Other than that if you don't want to use the arm bike portion you can sneak a tablet in between the arm stiffness knob and the digital readout and watch netflix or what ever tablet thing you do and have it stay there reasonably well (I recommend a case with a bit of grip as the bike is all plastic and metal, except the seat obviously, which is a synthetic leather-y material). For assembly you need two people or one person who is very flexible and has a lot of free time. It took two of us about an hour to assemble, nothing to terribly difficult but some of the parts just needed extra hands to help out with placement and holding in place until tightened down. I should also note all the screws are pre placed for easy assembly and much better than a giant bag of screws. Now it may seem I've been critical of a lot of the features on the bike and yea there are a few shortcomings but for being one of the most inexpensive recumbent bikes I could find and it comes with an arm bike too. It has been worth it, for the price I paid this is a great bike for anyone wanting some light low impact exercise it's great that it made it easy to get in and out of.

For the money a winner so far
I just got this and set it up by myself yesterday and did my first workout with it. I find it to be solid and easy to put together. It recommends 2 people and probably a good thing for most but I did it myself. Most of it is easy without anyone else but a few situations I needed to place a chair close to hold up parts in order for me to do it. Solid build and actually surprised at the quality for the price. The seat is a bit small in my opinion but not a big issue at all considering I'm only setting in it for about a half hour. I have found no noise or squeaking issues as some have mentioned. Also one of my main issues is having a good upper body workout with the hand peddles. It has good resistance and does have the same resistance peddling forward or backward. Also having used a gym commercial torso peddler in the past, I know that you can also use the arm length adjustments to maximize resistance. Set them out fully for easy use but as you get stronger, set them in further for more resistance. Know one on the reviews have mentioned this before and the company does not mention this in the brochure for some reason. The foot peddle is solid and adjustments allow any level of resistance. Should I find issues that arise I will post later but for now I am very satisfied and feel I got a great buy. Also a nice note to see the company selling these is based in Houston. It is made in China but I have found Texas companies to be honest and reliable so if I need future back up on this, I feel good they are based out of Texas. I travel a lot for a living and find Texas to be a really good state when it comes to integrity. I hope however I do not need their assistance! I also did buy the 2 year smart guard protection plan as I also don't believe anything in China will last more than a year if that. But again, this seems to be solidly made and well thought out in making it easy to put together which quite frankly was a pleasant surprise for me.

arrived broken twice
this is the second time that i had to order this product. the first time I ordered it I realized that it was broken before I finished assembling it thankfully. Amazion was great and they sent me another one and took the broken one back. after assembling the new I got on the bike and wheel of the bike would not move and made a horrible sound like nails on a chock board if you tried to use it. fortunately I have enough experience in mechanics where i was able to completely disassemble the bike and find out why it wasn't working. After hours of trouble shooting I was able to fix what I think was wrong. However the bike it self has very little resistance even on the hardest setting and same goes for the arm bike. I got this bike because i have ankle injury in which i have had to be non weight bearing for months I was hoping this arm bike was going to be my hope to get some cardio in while recovering but I can't say its much of an exercise but I guess its something.

Fantastic recovery bike for the price
I'm a 46 year old woman recovering from seizures and migraines and my favorite part of physical therapy is the hand bike. I was willing to spend up to $1000 on a hand bike but they are very hard to find. I decided that this bike most closely met my needs and the price was fabulous. Now that my husband has installed it I will speak to the pros and cons for those needing a hand bike. The handles do not work independently. After working with it a bit - I'm not sure it makes a difference for me. The computer does not keep track of hand bike - only recumbent bike. The seat is comfi. I am 5'5' and I am able to get really close to the handles. My husband says he loves how the seat adjusts. Plus the handles adjust for how much you would like to extend your reach. You are also able to manually adjust the tension on both the bike and handles seperately. My husband and son put it together in about an hour. The box is super heavy when it arrives - but to me that speaks to the durability of the bike. Most of it is welded together already in the box. You r really putting on handles, seats, and computer. For the price this is a great, and very stable (not wobbly) recovery bike.

Damage in shipping! check your box
haven't used it yet , been sick since it came in , but grown son excepted package , when putting together, found broken parts, but he didn't think it was a big deal and bike would work ok. And figured it was more trouble sending it back. but I didn't feel that way , Im very disappointed to pay this much and have something with flaws in it, before I've even used it , hope it doesn't effect the use of the bike, I need it for physical therapy for my fibromalgia. I do like the look and size. also the screw that holds cap on level tightness is either not long enough or is striped. Don't know if it was damaged in shipping. if so need to package better. or before. Pictures below , the black thing a top of circle, thats a piece missing , crack down to middle circle, and large scuff near pedal. 2nd picture is bottom of lever cap, wont screw down. OK just tried bike tension adjustment does work at all for pedals, I'm returning this one and reordered, good thing I was able to print out label to send it back. because it is needed for therapy. hope next one is OK. and will write another review.

easier to put together than expected...
It was recommended that two people put the bike together but I was able to do it alone in a couple of hours while watching TV. I was hoping that it would be sturdy & even though there's a good bit of plastic, the seat, platform base & center stem for the handles are steel. It feels pretty solid so I expect it to last at least a few years. I ordered a regular exercise bike from one of the TV shopping networks several years prior & one of the pedals fell off less than 6 months later because the threads were stripped on arm extending from the bike to the extent that I couldn't even use a replacement pedal. For that reason alone I decided to spend a little more for something more substantial. Tried it out already & the tension settings are easily adjusted so it provides a pretty smooth ride, I needed this following a recent knee replacement & I think Amazon's price at $332,00 w/free S & H was good. Only WalMart had it for less at $326.00 but there seemed to be a lot of complaints at their website about damages during shipping for exercise equipment in general so I opted for Amazon.

Great idea, but uncomfortable seat.
I recently completed chemotherapy and radiation treatment for breast cancer. The surgeries and months of treatment left me with limited range of motion in my right shoulder, and a significant loss of strength. I have been going to physical therapy sessions for a couple of months, and one of the machines that I work on is an "arm bike." The ability to work on my arms at home has really helped to speed up my recovery, and I will soon be released from PT. The added benefit of the bike is proving to be a significant help in gaining strength in my lower body as well.My only complaint about this bike is that the seat is uncomfortable. It is not padded, and quite hard. Although everything is completely adjustable, the angle of the seat is not. The result, for me, is that the seat digs into the back of my legs when I am using the bike. I have yet to figure out a way to decrease the discomfort. If it wasn't for the discomfort of the seat, I would have given this bike 5 stars.
