The ultimate in robot vacuums
Yes, it's incredibly expensive. Yes, it's probably far too expensive for most people. But is it worth that unbelievably high price? Well, firstly, looks: It does look amazing. Sure, you don't but a vacuum for its looks (!), but it certainly helps that it's a smart looking unit. And this is even more important as the base unit is HUGE. You need at least a meter clearance in height to be able to open the top of the base unit. And for something that you can't easily hide away in a corner, looks are therefore important. 10/10 for looks. Suction power: According to the stats, there are other robots on the market that have more suction power. However, I guess the old tale of 'it's not how big, it's what you do with it' rings true - as this has the perfect balance of suction vs battery life. It picks up everything it needs to on hard floors - and on carpets, it's great for the regular clean (but you'll still want a manual vac to do deep cleans). Noise: This is sooooo much quieter than my previous robot van (from another manufacturer). It's also not because the suction is less, because it isn't - the suction on this was double the old vac I had. I assume the tech has just improved. It's now possible to run this around the house in the night without waking anyone up. Bonus! Battery Life: No issues here. And to be honest, battery life doesn't matter with this unit. As long as it's clever enough to go back and charge when it needs to and restart automatically, then it's not an issue. It's a robot - the whole point is to leave it to get on with the cleaning, so if it recharges every hour, it doesn't really make a difference to the user. Smart detection: Our previous vac was stupid. Many times it had joyfully seen the cats had had an accident, and spread it far an wide (yuk!). No worries with the L20 - there is a button to toggle on the app that says 'Pet Owner'. This then tells it to be extra careful with pet accidents, and avoid like the plague. And so far, it's done exactly that. I'm now not worried about this. Mopping: It has two circular spinny mops. It can lift them when you don't want the floor to be mopped, or you can tell it to go back to base, drop them off, and go back out to vacuum. I personally set it to vac and mop at the same time (the mops are at the back, so it mops the floor that's just been hoovered). And judging my the colour of the waste water, it does an incredible job. When the mop heads get dirty, the robot goes back to base, cleans them, and then goes back out to continue mopping. At the end of the mop, it does the same process, but it also dries the mops - so they don't sit there, stagnating. The arm the mop is on also flicks out, so it can mop right up to the edge of the floor, without the robot body scraping along the skirting. I can't stress how well this mopping feature works. You have to top up the large water tank every couple of days - and empty the dirty water at the same time. BUT there is an option to plumb in the cold water tank, and the dirty water tank - and although I haven't done this yet, I will do. App: No crashes so far - so it seems stable. It's not exactly designed by Apple - so the UI is a little clunky, but really, that's such a minor point it shouldn't be on your radar. You can choose to clean the whole house, a room, or specific zones. It takes a while to get everything setup, but once it's done - it's really super easy. Summary: I love this thing. It just works well, and does what it promises to do efficiently, quietly, and to a high standard. I'm not a 'professional' reviewer - I paid full price for this robot - and I would totally recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unit to vac and mop. Is it worth the price? If you value your own time in any way, then yes, it's totally worth the price.

The best of the best
Dreame might be a bit of an "unknown" when it comes to robot vacuums, however, they've quickly established themselves and now make some of the best on the market, with the L20 being the current flagship (There is the L30, but that's not out in the UK, and it just adds hot water mopping) It's not without its flaws, but all of these robot vacuums have their flaws, so it's just what you can live with. The L20, does a fantastic job at cleaning: I cannot fault it, and its extendable mopping arm does a brilliant job of getting into corners and up against the skirting. - It'll return to the dock to automatically change the water, empty the vacuum if needed, etc. You can also set different cleaning routines per room, and choose to detach the mops for a certain room or area (maybe you've got long rugs or shag pile carpet). - AI obstacle avoidance is fantastic, and it'll flag up on the map where it found obstacles - It can detect overly dirty areas and either warn you or go back and give them another clean automatically - Despite its powerfulness, it's very very quiet in comparison to my older Neato vacuum. It had no issues picking up chewed-up fluffy dog toys from the carpet whilst we slept, without waking us. Also has a DND mode so it wont automatically empty the vacuum (as this is quite loud) I've never come downstairs and thought that it hadn't done a good job. It'll never replace a full manual clean, but means you can do these every few weeks, rather than every few days. Some of the annoyances though: - Whilst the app is very in-depth, it can be a little, unintuitive. Some settings are robot-specific and would be better suited to being room-specific. - The navigation can be, a little odd at times. I've noticed that the robot will go around a room to try and get to a dock right in front of it. Also when going around objects, sometimes it'll go extremely slowly by essentially wiggling along. These things can always be improved with software updates though, and the key thing to call out, is despite the above, the robot has never got stuck and has always returned home - Shifting to another map for upstairs cleaning, isn't particularly clear or intelligent on how this worked. I set my robot to map upstairs and then set it to clean. It immediately decided to go to the dock to fill up the tank so it could mop the floors. However, there isn't a dock upstairs, and it knows this since it's not on the map. All in all, I would recommend this vacuum. The flaws with it are all software so can be improved. Hardware-wise, it's been fantastic, and have no issues at all.

Dreame L20 - Game changer!
This is my first robot vacuum. So I haven't had any expectations as I didn't know what to expect. My was on a fence between Dreame L20, Ecovacs T20 and Roborock S7/S8. There weren't many reviews for L20 and price wise it was in the middle of the pack. Feature wise they are very similar. I heard Ecovacs app is not the best and Roborock was couple of hundred more so I went with Dreame L20. I'm not disappointed, works great, no issues or it being stuck. Feels solid, works fine, good... Really good battery life. I have a 2 floor house and it's not a problem to carry it upstairs and let it work there. On a daily basis it vacuums whole downstairs and mops every second day. I read on reddit some complains from people about it but I didn't experienced any of it in the past 2 months I had it. If I had to nitpick I would say the app is a bit clunky. Everything is there and can be set up but it's not the cleanest or easiest experience. But it shouldn't discourage you, app works without issues just the UI especially options is a bit fragmented and all over the place.
