Lovely pencils
I am new to adult colouring books and what not but did some quick research and found out that that’s what these pencils are designed around.Very comfortable to use, they look stunning and the tin they come in is of good quality. And they seem to put down some lovely colours. Very happy with them.

Brilliant colours, brilliant price, brilliant to use.
I've been using colour pencils for many years now and finding the cost of replacing my Prismacolor and Derwent Coloursoft collection a bit too much. Thought I'd take a chance on some of the Black Widow pencils based on reading reviews. I am a total convert. Unbelievably good for the price. To me they feel like a combination of the best qualities of Prismacolor and Derwent without the high price tag.Luscious, intense pigment that slides on to the page effortlessly, like Prismacolor. No bleeding or smudging at all, even with the deepest and most intense colours, which is a real problem for me when using Prismacolor.Firm cores which hold their tip and wear down slowly. Able to wear with a broad edge and point so sharp right down to the stage they need to be sharpened like harder Derwent varieties but without scratchy results some of those give, or sore hands from effort of getting deep coverage on paper. More Artist than lower price Derwent but slower to wear down or lose point.A fabulous spectrum of colour: confess to having bought the entire range within days of getting the first order as so impressed.Being soft the pencils work well on cheeper paper colouring designs too which is an additional and unexpected bonus.I do prefer the newer design collections with colour indicator ends due to how I store my pencils but they are all gorgeous to look at and to hold. I do find slightly larger pencil shafts easier to grip but these take so little pressure when using that I am getting in fine with the smaller grip.Work well for fine lines or solid colouring, light shading to deep intense cover, and shading and mixing to achieve softer blended results.I absolutely love the black paint finish and the black wood shafts. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but they also smell delicious. I don't know what type of wood is used but the aroma when you open the tins and use these pencils is different to any others I have.Taking me time to get used to the more descriptive than colour wheel traditional names but I do love the names the colours have. Nice finishing touch fitting with the overall image.Incredibly good value.

The tin is very nice, and I do like the black finish on the wood. Colours are nice, well pigmented and go down onto paper without having to exert a lot of pressure. You can't put down more than a few layers, so if you like layering a lot of colours this might not be for you, but what you can put down blends quite well, and I find it enough to work around. There's no duplicates between the 3 sets, so it's a good way to build up a varied set of good quality colours, without splashing out for a massive set at once. Each pencil has the name of the colour (this is somewhere near the centre, then the number (this goes in colour order including all the 3 sets), then it has the name of the set, and the set symbol (this is quite close to the end of the pencil, it will be quite the tiny nub before you sharpen this away. You be needing a pencil holder by the time you get to the number to.) So while picking out each colour might become tricky as you sharpen them down, you will be able to sort them by colour/number, or by set for most of the life of the pencil. Just as an aside each sets lettering is in a different tint. This cobra set is gold, and scorpion is silver. You will need to swatch the colours, it's hard to even guess what some of the colours are just looking at the tip. There's some swatches on the inside of the lid, they are a good starting point but not entirely accurate. This is hardly just an issue with this set though, and not even just with colouring pencils in general. I suppose it's just an extra process to look on the tin instead of the pencils casing.I suppose I have a fair amount of little nit picks here, or considerations. But the most important part is they are pigmented, bend well, and you wont have to hurt your hand to use them even over a long colouring session.

Bright and Cheerful Medium Price Pencil Sets
The Black Widow pencils sets are reasonably good value, very bright and pigmented fun pencils. They do not feel the same as artist quality pencils, but they are smooth and relatively soft to use. If you like bright pictures full of punchy colours you will love them. If you like subtle blends and smooth layering then they might not be for you. I can't get much more than 3 layers down successfully. Some of the pencils are more scratchy than others and transfer colour to the paper less well, but over all they are easy to use and fun. It's endlessly tedious that none except the new skin tone sets have colour dipped ends. Even if the paint doesn't really match the lead colour, just having a colour on the end makes picking up the colour you need so much easier. You can't use these pencils without you make a colour swatch to work from and even then you spend too much time peering at shiny small writing on black barrels looking for the colour name. Not a good design choice.
