Without doubt I can recommend this book as the the most insightful I have come across on the topic of purity and walking in holiness. Freeman doesn't come at the reader with an arrogance of correct theology or the presentation of a 'new model' for instant success. Rather, he writes from a place of years observing many men in their struggle with the chaos and injury of appetite-gone-awry. He has diligently meditated upon the heart of a broken man and is humble enough to admit that he is no different from everyone else.This book will point you to the deep motivators of your painful behaviour - prepare to see the black, oily dregs of your heart out on the page - but it will also feed you with the choicest morsels from the banquet of God's grace. I thank God for Freeman and for the revelation he has been given.

One of the few books which is humble enough to admit that it won't fix all your problems, but that God has the power to instead. Using a lot of practical examples and a wealth of experience in counseling porn addicts, this book helps men realize they are not alone in their sin, but also not alone in having the resource, God, that can break their stubborn patterns of sin.

I am starting my 3rd read of this book. My wife read it, then read it out-loud to me, so I guess it is actually my 4th time through this book. I gave a copy to my pastor. He read it and then summarized it to the entire church board and recommended it to them.As a PSA, I feel I must warn you. There is a story at the end of chapter 7, so touching, so poignant, so gripping, that I wept for hours. I was compelled to write to John, the author, and ask about the rest of the story of what happened to little Sam. He wrote back!I will have to agree with my wife who said "This is the single, clearest, best book we have read on this subject to date."

I value the insights of this book because it is so clear on hitting the reasons behind behaviors. No matter the specific struggle, the reality is that we typically medicate a deeper pain or longing. Free man's approach highlights this and treats it thoroughly with theology (the why behind the what).

If you struggle with your sexuality in any way read this book. It tells it like it is and like it needs to be.
