A Curse of Blood and Wolves: A highly anticipated spicy romantasy novel for 2024: Book 1 (Wolf Brothers)

Before I started reading, I thought it would be a typical girl meets wolf book that is packed with a lot of naughtiness but a boring storyline.... I was so wrong! For once, the saucy bits are tastefully written and accompany the storyline perfectly rather than being the majority of book. In such a short story, I feel you really get to know the characters' personalities and it leaves you wanting to read more. I won't spoil the ending but I NEED to know what happens next asap!

I got this on first reads and so glad it did! I might not have picked it up without seeing it on first reads and it was so good!Good story, spice and loved the characters. Looking forward to the next book and seeing where the story goes!

📚 Book Review 📚I have read many books in my time, but actually, not many which are a fantasy romance. The writing is simple and I could get into the story swiftly, many parts I was able to skim through and read quickly.The main characters are introduced immediately, although the writing is a bit repetitive for the first 7 or 8 short chapters. Ruby goes to work, Rafe accompanies her. Ruby walks home from work, Rafe accompanies her. They go in the house, go to sleep, wake up, eat breakfast, talk, snog. Ruby goes to work, Rafe accompanies her. Ruby walks home from work, Rafe accompanies her … you get the drift.The other thing that bamboozles me a bit is just how accepting Ruby is when she finds out the Rafe is a werewolf. Basically, he says ‘I’m a werewolf’ and she replies ‘Fair doos mate!’ Now, it might have been a while since I was in my early twenties but I know young adults in their early twenties very well and none of the young women I know would ever be that accepting! Further conversations would be had. And I was also a bit disappointed with the lack of world building in this novel. I wasn’t sure if this was a story set in the real world or in a fantasy world where werewolves, nymphs and seers were prevalent.I did enjoy the fact that the main female character was strong and independent. She wasn’t helpless or under the control of her werewolf boyfriend, which was refreshing. Ruby had her own mind, works hard to support her sister and isn’t afraid of taking on others. The relationship that develops between her and Rafe felt genuine. My only bugbear was the constant stereotypical reference to the ‘huge’ and ‘massive’ man and the ‘little’ young woman with ‘tiny feet’. Yes, Ruby may have the waist a size of a small crusty bread roll but does this really matter?All in all, if you fancy something that has more spice than a reunion of five women from the 90’s telling you how to ‘zig a zig ahh’ which is easy to read through quickly, this is for you. This book keeps you guessing all the way through. I couldn’t put it down and read it all in one night.

This was such a fab and fun retelling of the story of Little Red Riding Hood. I was hooked throughout and didn’t want to put the book down. The writing and action suck you in. And Rafe and Ruby were both brilliantly characterised. I especially felt for Rafe, who was haunted by his past and foolishly convinced himself that he was the monster he was brought up to be.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀“A Curse of Blood and Wolves” contains some of my favourite tropes: touch her and you die, forced proximity, only one bed and fated mates. And it delivers them brilliantly. The relationship is a slow burn to begin with but then heats up and the spice levels are high. 🔥⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀I’ve been loving reading wolfie books recently and ACOBAW did not let me down. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Easy read. First book of this genre and I was sucked in. Loved so many of these characters. I need the next book NOW!

Every night when Ruby walks home from work through the woods, she can feel eyes on her. The thrill and excitement draw her to wonder if this mystery person will ever reveal themselves.For anyone wanting to step into more fantasy books, I would recommend this one. There is not a lot of world building nor supernatural creatures so it's easy to follow along. It is also an open-doored romance and we do get a few spicy scenes!I enjoyed Ruby’s character, showing strength from start to finish and always looking out for her sister. Rafe was the typical “lone wolf” style grump, what's not to love!The relationship between Ruby and Rafe, I would say, has a HEA, however, you are still left with a lot of unanswered questions wanting you to pick up book 2! This is a good read with a good story and plot. The spicy scenes are spicy but a few of the word choices made me pull a face. It wasn't a cringe but made me pause my reading to question why that word. That being said I will continue to read the last two books of this trilogy when released.

And it’s a good thing, because one night, she’s attacked by an unknown wolf, and her stalker wolf ends up saving her. Ruby then starts to learn about a whole new world she never would have believed was real.The characters were fun, especially the banter back and forth. There was some insta-attraction, which is typical for this kind of book, and I liked that their mutual attraction was obvious to both of them, and no one was oblivious because that usually annoys me.I thought the world building was fun for this little paranormal community surrounding the “real world”. There’s some mystery as to what is going on with her sister, and around the mysterious wolf attackers, and by the end I was definitely interested in reading the next book, so I definitely got invested in the story!Overall, this was a fun, cute little shifter romance. (The first of a trilogy, I would assume, with each of the brothers?) 3.25 ⭐️ rounded down, 1.5 🌶️ rounded down. I had better expectations for this book as I thought it would contain more horror aspects and spice. Rafe and Ruby are cute together, when Rafe isn’t putting himself down and pushing her away. He sister and her have an interesting relationship that I believe will be explored upon in the next book. Race’s younger brother is the “pretty boy” who secretly likes for his best friend. There’s no telling who is after the werewolf attacks in this book but I am excited to see it revealed in the next.

I wanted to shake him and tell him to get over himself and his past but I also understood his fears. Steamy tension builds up between him and Ruby. He worries about his past repeating itself. That being said, I couldn't stop reading this book. There were tugs at the hot and spicy tension that kept me interested in finding out what happens in the end. The desire of wanting something one can't have and figuring out if he indeed gets to have Ruby in the end.This book is for you if you enjoy a spicy werewolf romance with a Little Red Riding Hood influence. I wouldn't consider this book a retelling but it definitely plays off Little Red Riding Hood wearing the color red and the need to run from a wolf etc...I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This wasn’t for me. It might be for someone else but I just didn’t like it. I hope those who like it see this. Just because I didn’t like doesn’t mean it’s not a good book

Spice is subjective but when it’s described as 5 chili peppers I expected more but there was barely any spice. Also Rafe was kinda annoying sometimes. It was ok and I did enjoy their banter but I would not recommend to my friends.
