I LOVE THEM! As effective as the (much more expensive) 'tortoisey' named competitor mat products
I purchased 2 of these mats approx 6 months ago. I have (to date since c2006) purchased 455 items from Amazon. This is the first item I have felt necessary to review.I think they are absolutely brilliant. I have bought cheaper both bristle/carpet-type mats previously. These mats, with their pile, absolutely just do not compare (the bristly mats from our favourite yellow Swedish home store included, along with the other types names below). What has compelled me to write this so many months later, is something that has just this minute happened ... Having re-organized a few items around my home today, I have moved some of my mats (William Armes (WA) amongst other branded mats) also, to different places. My kitchen floor (where one of the WA mats has been living since it’s purchase around 6 months ago), has remained, since then, nigh-on spotless … until todayThis afternoon I moved my WA (kitchen) mat to a different door/home, (replacing it with one of my A.N.Other mats). Having just come-in from outside, and wiped my floor on my A.N.Other mat (bought from a T.V. shopping site similarly named to the band JLS (the advert showed doggy-paws with/without their mat & also the dirty wellies with/without their mat) --- I have just been reminded why it is that I rave about the WA mats to my friends and has reinforced why I also kept them upon my initial purchase, in the first instance. My kitchen floor, today, is now filthy. Upon this realisation and reminder of just how bad the others are, (I’ve evidently completely forgotten my former-life (pre-WA mats) of needing to constantly clean the marked floors (oh how quickly we take things for granted)) … I have immediately come to my laptop to buy another WA mat (replacing the awful (now temporary, soon to be discarded/(recycled) one in the kitchen). My sister and close-friend both own a number of the 'tortoisey'-type-name-branded, similar-type-mat-products. They are twice as expensive as the WA ones here. Having now had thorough use of both brands (in differing conditions), I would definitely deem the William Armes mats as equally as effective - but at half the price of this similar brand. Who could ask for more!I for one would advocate use of these for those with children, pets, or simply those who are in-and-out a lot.A very happy customer, leaving 5 *****s

Not for outside uses
My husband bought this thinking it would be ok for outside our front door - however now it is inside the kitchen just where we step in (from all the mud in our country lane ) it does absorb the wet and mud before it gets on the carpet runner (we like to keep our floors as clean as poss) Easy to wash and would recommend for inside use.

Absorbs wet shoes well and looks smart
This is a replacement for a 9 year old William Armes mat which lasted very well and performed brilliantly. The price is excellent for this quality product which helps stop wet grimy shoes from ruining your flooring. You can also wash this in the washing machine. Recommended.

poor quality
purchased this mat at the begining of June, I have never used this brand before but I was tempted to buy due t the price, I am constantly picking up loose bits which fall from it, I hoover it regularly in the hope of removing all loose threads but more still keep sheading from it, I have used my polti steam cleaner on it three times in the hope of sorting the loose sheading out but still no joy, if anyone is after this sort of mat they are better going for the more expensive washmatic mats as they certainly don't shed.

Door mat
Very good quality, disappointed as it's a bit on the small side though expected it to cover door way, my fault in part should have measured.

As good as new after 19 months
Hard-wearing and very absorbent for moisture and to trap dirt. We keep ours at the back door. Helps a lot in keeping the kitchen floor clean from family/dog's tread after coming in from outside. I've washed it in washing machine a few times, and still looks as good as new to me. Had it 19 months. Ours is the 60x40cm version. Not too big, not too small. Perfect size to go in washing machine as and when needed.

Beige is Brown
We have used this type of mat at entrance doors for years & are pretty pleased. If you choose a colour rather than the grey shops & offices tend to use, they look quite smart. Eventually they get so flat they stop being so absorbent & have to be replaced but this is not for a good many years. 120 x 90 is the maximum size I can get in the washing machine. I do that perhaps twice a year - the rest of the time vacuuming is enough. The 'Beige' is definitely Brown (quite a rich one) but looks good against a dark parquet floor so not a problem.
