Would this be ok for tarantulas?

I don’t know anything about tarantula, but you put it in water and it expands and stays moist if you keep it in a tub . Hope this helps .

Yes will be fine, I use it for my leopard geckos moist hide. You break and bit off, add water to it. But messy, I prefer live moss personally but this is a cheaper option

Is this suitable for using with a giant african landsnail?

Yes, I use this one with my GAL. It is the best one I have used so far and I have tried a few. It does not get moudly quickly!
