I'm looking to do a simple triple monitor setup, or rather, a dual monitor setup with a closed laptop. I plugged this thing in, plugged the hdmi cords in, installed the drivers and software and it worked perfectly. Until I restarted my laptop.Once you have a monitor setup, you should expect it to work straight on computer launch from there on out. That is apparently too much to expect from this converter and its accompanying software. Its UI is garbage, you can't treat it like a regular program, sometimes its missing, the monitor setup never automatically works on computer launch. Even worse, sometimes it duplicates the monitor sources as new ones, sometimes it can't detect them, sometimes the program freezes and you can't even shut it down because it doesn't register as a regular program, you have to restart your computer to even attempt to restore its functionality, because you can't actually end it as a process due to being unable to access the task manager.You heard that right. For my computer, I could no longer ctr+alt+delete, and any time any administrative permission window would attempt to pop up on my computer, it wouldn't show up, my mouse would just disappear, and I could restore functionality to the computer if I dealt with the window as if it were invisible, for example pressing escape to get out of it, or left arrow key then enter to grant permission, ect. That's fine, but still doesn't remedy the fact that I could no longer use task manager at all.Maybe this converter works better for mac. Don't buy if you have windows.

If you are using a USB-A to HDMI adapter that probably means your other options (Thunderbolt, HDMI, etc) were not available to not working. Therefore, you have to be a little lenient with the speed and resolution that is output with a device like this.I tested this device on an early-2014 MacBook Air running macOS Catalina (10.15.7) to connect to a Dell-branded monitor. Upon initially plugging in the device you will get a driver and be led through the process of downloading UDisplay and allowing it to get the required permissions. The instruction booklet that comes with the adapter walks you through this with easy to understand instructions and screenshots. I will note that I didn't follow the instructions in the exact order and everything still ended up working out fine.I used it to mirror the screen and briefly to have it be a connected giant screen. Both seemed to work.When mirroring, UDisplay gave the option to choose between speed or quality - neither seemed to really change that much. Latency/lag was more noticeable if I was looking at my laptop screen and the monitor simultaneouly, if I was only looking at the monitor (even though the lag was actually the same) it was just less noticeable due to a lack of comparison.It says UDisplay only support 1080p output which is not terrible given that it's coming through a USB port. However, do not expect it to look amazing. I tried playing some competitive Minecraft and was able to get by without much issue, however when moving around a lot the low resolution became more apparent. In Minecraft this was not too much of an issue but I would imagine that in games that require you to see details (maybe competitive FPS games at a distance or something, or something like DOTA with little screen details) this probably won't work well for you.I also tested this to play OutFox which is like Stepmania/Dance Dance Revolution and after adjusting my input timing due to the slight delay, it was completely fine and a very enjoyable experience.For other stuff (emails, web browsing, etc) it was more than fine and honestly just nice to be looking at a bigger and higher screen/monitor.The adapter does mention that it can get quite hot in use and that it's normal, I did notice it being hot but not extremely so.I did not test it in a USB-C port or with a second monitor.Overall it works if this is your last resort to display something onto a monitor, it's not fantastic but it works. If you prioritize a larger screen over resolution and speed then this is a good choice, especially considering it's coming from USB-A. As far as I know, pretty much all USB-A to HDMI adapters will have similar output given the nature of the port.

Product was not what is shown in the photos. It comes with a USB connector and no USB-c adapter.After installing the UDisplay, the screen quality is pretty terrible, even when verifying connections, cords, and newest OS/firmware updates.This was a disappointment

I bought this so I could use three external displays on my MacBook Pro with an Apple Silicon M2 Pro processor. Natively, the processor only supports two external displays, so I knew I needed an adapter that used DisplayLink. I understand that DisplayLink uses screen recording to create the additional display, so I was prepared to sacrifice native monitor response time and tolerate the occasional artifact.This adapter, however, creates a significant degradation of the picture quality and introduces stuttering, artifacting, and other display inconsistencies/glitches. The software is also very unreliable, and you'll find it interfering with your Mac OS system settings -> displays settings, showing the wrong resolution, and generally not doing what you tell it to do.I submitted the return as soon as I got it powered on and realized how bad the image quality was and purchased a different adapter, at about twice this price unfortunately, from the company that uses the word plug in their brand name -- but it turns out that that's the real cost of an adapter like this, because now I have my three external monitors connected with an image quality that's indistinguishable from being plugged in directly to a native stream.

This little USB converter was a lifesaver - the one I had in use at the office just quit working one day during the busiest time of the year. So I ordered this one and it got to me next day, and immediately worked when I plugged it in. It doesn't have the variety of inputs/outputs like some of the other options, but this one doesn't require a lot of downloading and installing, etc. either. I think I like the simpler take this one offers.

The software that this comes with so that you can duplicate or open different browsers somehow conflicts with OS causing freezing up or sometimes does not operate at all.

This unit worked, but it was not the greatest option and would not let the monitors go into sleep mode. The monitor would stay on with this unit's logo.
