MKS Esprit EZY Superior: Quick-release, lightweight pedal for urban cycling, Metallic

Bought these for my Tern folding bike. I made sure to buy the updated Superior version to avoid the rubber ring things. Initial thoughts were that the pedals were robust and fairly weighty. Well made. After some fidgeting I eventually worked out how to align the dots, press the collar in and snap the pedal into place (I just take off one). Much easier when I do it now. The pedals are excellent to use - really good grip and they fee they'll last forever. Excellent quality.

I fitted 2 pairs of these pedals to two Raleigh Stow-E-Way folding e-Bikes that my wife and I use and they have been a great upgrade. The original rubber/plastic folding pedals had a horrible "spongy" feel and one of the original pedals fell apart, this is illustrated in the 4th photo. These all metal replacement pedals are easy to remove and replace without tools following initial installation and they transform the riding experience of the bikes. Apart from making the bikes ride better they make for a better fold when traveling and being able to completely remove the pedals certainly makes the bike less of an attractive proposition for thieves! These pedals are not cheap but they seem well made and I certainly recommend them. I've no idea how long they will last but they seem robust and if I get a good few years from them I'll be happy.

Not cheap but really well made. MKS aren't the go-to manufacturer for no good reason. Fit and forget; I love 'em.

My initial impression was good and while riding on roads I had no problems....but of course had little reason to remove them. Using my folding bike on dry coastal roads and trails however I found the release mechanism almost impossible to move with just a modicum of dirt jamming it. Difficult to get the mech. moving againI wish I hadn't bought them. Note that my wife's Wellgo removable pedals performed faultless on the same rides.

Bought for Brompton and mainly to deter theft. One of the pedals was immediately found to be defective - almost impossible to remove from either receiving piece whereas the other pedal worked reasonably well on both. Unlikely damaged in transit so qc problem. For me not a concern because I only wanted one missing pedal to make the bike hard to ride and deter theft. Keep the Brompton folding pedal - it's 20x easier to fold/unfold - just attach the MKS to the other (chain) side. Mostly it won't be removed anyway because I'm able to take the bike with me. btw the pedal itself is a good size and style match and most quick release are not, I tried several. fwiw if planning to leave the bike somewhere I take a quality U lock in the comfortable Waterfly small Sling Backpack and include some polythene gloves and a small polythene bag - use the gloves to remove the pedal and put it in the bag and carry in the Waterfly slingsack (good btw but you need to add a bit of padding to the bottom because the U lock is heavy and hard, the slingsack does have foam padding on the back face).

Tempo fa ho commesso l'errore di sostituire i pedali originali rimovibili della mia bici pieghevole Dahon Curl con pedali pieghevoli di tipo economico. Questi ultimi purtroppo mi hanno quasi lasciato a piedi durante un recente viaggio nel Salento, e solo per fortuna sono riuscito a farli sostituire (con pedali normali) prima che cedessero del tutto. Terminato il viaggio mi sono messo quindi alla ricerca di una valida alternativa tanto ai pedali pieghevoli quanto ai pedali originari (che seppur di buon livello sono comunque in resina come i pedali economici e utilizzano un sistema di sgancio particolare che non mi soddisfa). La scelta è caduta su questi MKS Superior che già a prima vista denotano un enorme qualità costruttiva. Sono probabilmente il top del top in fatto di pedali rimovibili, e di conseguenza non costano poco. Si tratta però di soldi decisamente ben spesi: ripagati da una grande robustezza, da materiali di primissima qualità, da estrema praticità e facilità d'uso (non è necessario rimuovere alcuna clip di sicurezza per sganciare i pedali, ma basta ruotare la ghiera al punto giusto), da grande sicurezza (lo sgancio accidentale dei pedali è reso impossibile da una molla che tiene sempre in posizione la ghiera rotante) e anche da un bel design classico e funzionale (che è quello che prediligo sempre su componenti tanto importanti). In dotazione viene fornito anche un sacchetto per portare con se gli MKS una volta sganciati (togliere i pedali può infatti essere un ottimo disincentivo ai furti quando si parcheggia la bici). Nella confezione si trovano anche due rondelle sottili da mettere tra pedali e pedivelle nel caso queste abbiano la tipica scanalatura circolare (non sempre presente) nel punto di avvitamento. I pedali sono infine perfettamente compatibili con l'installazione dei catadiottri (obbligatori per legge in Italia). Concludendo quindi, se avete una bici pieghevole di qualità (Brompton, Dahon, Tern,...) e state cercando dei pedali a sgancio che risultino affidabili anche nei lunghi tragitti e nell'uso intenso, questi MKS Ezy Superior fanno sicuramente al caso vostro. Spenderete un po', ma non ve ne pentirete.

Increïbles i super pràctics pedals de la prestigiosa marca japonesa. En ser extraïbles fàcilment en quan li agafes la pràctica, són una assegurança contra robatori. A més, redueix l'espai per a guardar la bicicleta tan plegada com desplegada, sobretot si et desplaces en transport públic. Són d'una qualitat altíssima i robusts però, alhora fàcils de posar i extraure. Totalment recomanable pagar el seu preu.
