Great production quality and an enormous variety of challenging moves. You’ll sculpt your body with an always-changing medley of everything from classic dumbbell routines to high-intensity plyometrics (quick, high jumps that uniquely focus on the too-often-neglected “fast twitch” muscle fibers). Beautifully filmed on the Firm’s elegant mansion set and feature upbeat jazz-type instrumental music. This is a comprehensive, well-balanced workout that systematically blends seated, lying and standing moves. You’ll carefully shape every muscle by precisely varying the equipment and body position for maximum results. Tracy Long, a Firm Master Instructor, demonstrates superb pacing and very clear cuing (even occasionally showing the incorrect form so you can see errors to avoid). At least two sets of 3 to 15 lb. dumbbells, a workout dowel and a step-bench are required (they use a 14" high box; a regular step will work). 2 to 5 lb. ankle weights are suggested.

The Firm Total Body MAXIMUN BODY SHAPING SCULPTING Dvd
I chose this rating due to the fact that all of the Body Firm Dvds are quite beautifully choreographed and well though out. They are full body work outs working the entire body to the core. This workout is wonderful, one of the best. It sculpts the entire body leaving nothing out! Tracy Long is great as are all of the Body Firm Instructors. They were trained to instruct by the late Anna Benson who developed the Firm Workouts. I was fortunate to workout with her and her sister Cynthia Benson in Columbia, SC in the 1990's in Columbia, SC when I was in my 20s and 30s and they got me in peak condition. I think of Anna often and always will. I didn't realize when I ordered this copy that I already had one, so I have two copies, one in it's original packaging. So if you're interested, let me know and leave a message.I would recommend this workout to anyone, just take it easy and slow when you first start out, then pick it up little by little until you can easily do the entire workout.

Quick, No-Nonsense Work-Out
I have a large collection of Kathy Smith tapes because I like her upbeat personality, her tapes are fun and she is much more appealing than Denise Austin, who tends to be a little silly and her workouts don't seem to do much for the body. While shopping around for yet another Kathy Smith tape, I read reviews about this and other Firm tapes. This was my first Firm tape and I am sure I will be buying more. The instructor is clear in her instruction and her cueing is precise, letting us know in advance what she'll be doing so we won't miss a beat. I like the even pace and the setting is calming and not distracting. The routines alternate between weights and squats/lunges with some easy floor legwork, then there's a very brief but effective abs routine. Before you know it, it's time for the stretching and cooldown. You will work up a sweat without having to jump around, and you will feel it slightly in the muscles of your thighs and arms the next day. Just remember to give your muscles at least 36 hours rest before doing this or any weights work again.

EXCEPTIONAL PRICE
At first I was so disappointed. DVD only played for 10 min then stopped. Tried different player with same results. Then It dawned on me to clean it. IT WORKS. THANKS very much. These dvd are hard to find and I am very happy.

Never gets old!
Ive owned this dvd for a few years already. Its very easy to follow, to the point, and works every muscle. Its easy to heavy up on the weights as well. Tracie is one of my favorite FIRM Instructors and I still workout to her other workouts as well since they have that "firm style feel" somewhat. There's not really any cardio in this workout but because you are moving from workout to workout, your heart rate will stay up long enough for the cardio benefits. Please dont worry if you do not own the wooden step. You can use a Rubbermaid 12 inch step stool and still get a good workout. I find that when id use the 14 inch height step , 12 inches worked just as good (except 14 inch is better for hover squats, tricep dips, and other uses. But you can always find some step risers to equal the same inches).

Tracie Long is my favorite Firm instructor
This tape is approximately 45 minutes long and is rated for beginner to intermediate exercisers. The tape is focused on weight training and has very little cardio work. That being said, I love this tape because of the instruction Tracie Long provides. She is a great teacher, constantly demonstrating proper and improper technique. Her timing and cueing for upcoming moves is excellent. You do not need to watch this tape 5x to catch on to the moves. This tape becomes less challenging as you get in better shape, but you can always increase the weights you are using. I have also added ankle weights to increase the difficulty now that I am getting in shape. Tracie moves quickly thru a variety of exercises. There are no long sets, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on your fitness level and personal workout preferences.Overall, I like this tape because of the instruction and the simplicity of the exercises. I just keep coming back to it time and time again.

Beware: Maximum Body Shaping!!
This is by far the best toning and shaping video I have done. If you are serious and want to use weights in your workout then this it the tape for you. The instructor is very good with showing you both the right way and wrong way of performing the exercises and explains the moves and what muscle group they target, which I find very, very helpful and beneficial. I highly recommend using a lighter weight the first time you do this tape and gradually increase the weight. I also highly recommend using a "Fanny Lifter" and don't think you would get as good of a workout without one. Every single body group is targeted in this video, from arms to legs and everything in between. It's not aerobic, as other reviews have complained about, however you will get your heart rate up and break a sweat! Also, BEWARE because the day after you do this tape you may not be able to climb stairs!

Excellent, comprehensive workout
I have quite a collection of workout videos and this is one of my favorites. The moves are varied; it works all your main muscle groups: the length is 45 minutes - a good, solid workout; there's a full class of women doing the moves so you feel like you have "company"; the music is pleasant, not strident or rocky; and the pace is quick but not overwhelming. It's a strength-training workout, with not much aerobic exercises, but you'll work up a good sweat. My only complaint is that the instructor, Tracie Long, is a rather flat, and explains very little - not how to do the moves nor why they're good for you. But other than that, it's a great workout.
